Phase-matching-induced near-chirp-free solitons in normal-dispersion fiber lasers

open access: yesLight: Science & Applications, 2022
The fiber birefringence, chromatic dispersion, and nonlinear effect follow a phase-matching principle, enabling the formation of birefringence-managed solitons in normal-dispersion fiber lasers containing a section of polarization-maintaining fiber.

Tunable Optoelectronic Chromatic Dispersion Compensation Based on Machine Learning for Short-Reach Transmission

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2019
In this paper, a machine learning-based tunable optical-digital signal processor is demonstrated for a short-reach optical communication system. The effect of fiber chromatic dispersion after square-law detection is mitigated using a hybrid structure ...

Triple Coupled Ring‐Core Fiber with Dual Highly Dispersive Windows for Orbital Angular Momentum Mode

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, 2022
Orbital angular momentum (OAM) beams, featured by the helical phase front and doughnut intensity profile, have been demonstrating great potential for various applications. Ring‐core optical fiber is also experimentally proven to be an effective waveguide

Theoretical Analysis of the Optical Propagation Characteristics in a Fiber-Optic Surface Plasmon Resonance Sensor

open access: yesSensors, 2013
Surface plasmon resonance (SPR) sensor is widely used for its high precision and real-time analysis. Fiber-optic SPR sensor is easy for miniaturization, so it is commonly used in the development of portable detection equipment.

Novel High Negative Chromatic Dispersion Photonic Crystal Fiber with Low Confinement Loss [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, 2016
In this paper, we propose a novel dual core concentric photonic crystal fiber with high negative chromatic dispersion and low confinement loss. Finite element method with perfectly matched layers (PMLS) is used to investigate the guiding properties.

Near‐Infrared Emitting Lanthanide Catecholate Giant Single Crystals – Morphology Control and Photon Down‐Conversion

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Controlled syntheses of lanthanide coordination polymers based on the dihydroxybenzoquinone (DHBQ) organic linker afforded large single crystals of Ln‐DHBQ CPs (Ln = Yb, Nd). A novel structural variant of Yb‐DHBQ is identified by means of single crystal diffraction analysis.

Highly Birefringent Two-Mode Photonic Crystal Fibers With Near-Zero Flattened Dispersion

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2011
Through introducing three sizes of holes in cladding, highly birefringent two-mode photonic crystal fibers (PCFs) are proposed. The full-vector finite-element method (FEM) is applied in the calculation of the transverse electric field vector ...

DENTA: A Dual Enzymatic Nanoagent for Self‐Activating Tooth Whitening and Biofilm Disruption

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The nanoapatite with dual enzymes (DENTA) accumulates in dentinal tubules, reducing hypersensitivity caused by dental nerve exposure and facilitating continuous ROS generation through salivary glucose for effective, long‐term whitening. The dentin structures remain non‐destructive due to the low concentration of ROS, demonstrating excellent cell ...
