Triple Coupled Ring‐Core Fiber with Dual Highly Dispersive Windows for Orbital Angular Momentum Mode

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, 2022
Orbital angular momentum (OAM) beams, featured by the helical phase front and doughnut intensity profile, have been demonstrating great potential for various applications. Ring‐core optical fiber is also experimentally proven to be an effective waveguide

Optoelectronic chromatic dispersion and wavelength monitoring in a photodiode

open access: yesOptics Express, 2021
The optoelectronic process of light absorption and current formation in photodiodes is shown to be a significant source of optoelectronic chromatic dispersion (OED). Simple design rules are developed for fabricating a photodiode-based dispersion device that possesses large, small, zero, and either positive or negative OED.

Liquid Phase Transmission Electron Microscopy: A Window into the Early Stages of Complex Material Formation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Liquid‐phase transmission electron microscopy enables direct observation of nucleation and growth processes in solution. This review is dedicated to the remembrance of Helmut Cölfen and highlights recent studies on complex materials—oxides, biominerals, organic–inorganic crystals—which were central to his research activity. It summarizes key milestones,

Accurate Chromatic Dispersion Characterization of Photonic Integrated Circuits

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2012
An accurate technique to characterize chromatic dispersion and its slope versus wavelength is reported. The method is based on a heterodyne Mach-Zehnder interferometer, which is immune to thermal phase noise by using a counterpropagating reference beam ...

Strain‐Programmable Luminescent Adhesive Patch With Tartrazine‐Mediated Optical Skin Clearing for Photochemical Tissue Bonding

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We propose a suture‐complementary approach that integrates optical skin clearing with a strain‐programmable luminescent adhesive patch. Hyaluronic acid promotes transdermal delivery of tartrazine to improve optical clearing and stabilizes its interaction with a photosensitizer. Optical clearing increases the penetration depth of visible light into skin,
