Note on the game chromatic index of trees [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
We study edge coloring games defining the so-called game chromatic index of a graph. It has been reported that the game chromatic index of trees with maximum degree $\Delta = 3$ is at most $\Delta + 1$.

Proteins, Processing, and Properties of Adhesive Fluid Condensates Purified from Mussels

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Mussels exhibit an unmatched proficiency for adhering to wet surfaces in salty environments—a remarkable ability that could inspire new biomedical and technical glues. The fluid protein condensates used to form the underwater mussel glue are extracted, reconstituted and characterized with advanced spectroscopy and nanomechanical analysis, revealing ...

Improvement of Optical Properties in Hexagonal Index-guiding Photonic Crystal Fiber for Optical Communications [PDF]

open access: yesMathematics Interdisciplinary Research, 2017
Waveguides with low confinement loss, low chromatic dispersion, and low nonlinear effects are used in optical communication systems. Optical fibers can also be employed in such systems.

Comparison of Chromatic and Spectrophotometric Properties of White and Red Wines Produced in Galicia (Northwest Spain) by Applying PCA

open access: yesMolecules, 2022
Wine is a complex matrix composed of numerous substances and color has an important influence on its quality and consumer acceptance. Color is affected by numerous factors such as pre-fermentation and fermentation operations, ageing, contact or addition ...

Circular Chromatic Index of Generalized Blanuša Snarks [PDF]

open access: yesThe Electronic Journal of Combinatorics, 2008
In his Master's thesis, Ján Mazák proved that the circular chromatic index of the type 1 generalized Blanuša snark $B^1_n$ equals $3+{2\over n}$. This result provided the first infinite set of values of the circular chromatic index of snarks. In this paper we show the type 2 generalized Blanuša snark $B^2_n$ has circular chromatic index $3+{1/\lfloor ...

Dual‐Ligand Metal‐Organic Frameworks via In Situ Amidoxime Engineering for Selective Ion Separation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Inspired by microbial ion‐trapping mechanisms, a mild and universal strategy is developed to construct highly porous amidoxime‐functionalized MOFs. DFT calculations and molecular force measurements reveal that the dual‐ligand amidoxime configuration significantly strengthens Ga(III) affinity.

Spectrum radial velocity analyser (SERVAL). High-precision radial velocities and two alternative spectral indicators

open access: yes, 2017
Context: The CARMENES survey is a high-precision radial velocity (RV) programme that aims to detect Earth-like planets orbiting low-mass stars. Aims: We develop least-squares fitting algorithms to derive the RVs and additional spectral diagnostics ...

Colourings of (k-r,k)-trees [PDF]

open access: yesOpuscula Mathematica, 2017
Trees are generalized to a special kind of higher dimensional complexes known as \((j,k)\)-trees ([L. W. Beineke, R. E. Pippert, On the structure of \((m,n)\)-trees, Proc. 8th S-E Conf. Combinatorics, Graph Theory and Computing, 1977, 75-80]), and which

Liquid Phase Transmission Electron Microscopy: A Window into the Early Stages of Complex Material Formation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Liquid‐phase transmission electron microscopy enables direct observation of nucleation and growth processes in solution. This review is dedicated to the remembrance of Helmut Cölfen and highlights recent studies on complex materials—oxides, biominerals, organic–inorganic crystals—which were central to his research activity. It summarizes key milestones,
