Peck or pass? Individual‐level testing of a bird‐repellent seed coating

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Using sequential unique‐choice tests on an urban population of ringed carrion crows, we show that black pepper oleoresin‐treated maize seeds were avoided, while color alone had no deterrent effect. Abstract Background Carrion crows (Corvus corone) are a major depredating species of spring crops across European agroecosystems, especially during sowing ...

Enhanced Green and Orange–Red Dual Luminescence Emissions of Zn0.5Ca0.5Al2O4: Tb3+, Sm3+ Phosphors Stimulated by Crystallinity: Effects of Annealing Temperature

open access: yesphysica status solidi (a), EarlyView.
This work examines how annealing temperature influences the structural and luminescent properties of Zn0.5Ca0.5Al2O4:0.1% Tb3+,0.1% Sm3+ phosphors synthesized via the citrate sol–gel method. Increasing temperature enhances crystallinity and emission color tuning from bluish‐green to yellowish‐red, with optimal luminescence emission at 900°C.

Luminescence of Tb3+ and Eu3+ Single‐Doped and Double‐Doped LiSrVO4 Phosphors

open access: yesphysica status solidi (b), EarlyView.
Typical emissions of Tb3+ and Eu3+ ions and the energy transfer mechanism from Tb3+ to Eu3+ are observed when excited at 345 nm. The emission intensity of Tb3+, Eu3+‐doped LiSrVO4 is enhanced by Eu doping. The CIE coordinates of the phosphors can be tuned from orange to red by changing the Eu doping.
