Higher order color mechanisms : Evidence from noise-masking experiments in cone contrast space [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This study addresses a fundamental question concerning the number of cortical, i.e., higher order mechanisms in color vision. The initial subcortical stages in color vision can be described by three cone mechanisms, S, M, L, and three pairs of second ...

Contribution to the Chromatic Characterization of Unifloral Honeys from Galicia (NW Spain)

open access: yesFoods, 2019
Honey color and other physicochemical characteristics depend mainly on the botanical and geographical origin. The study of these properties could make easier a correct classification of unifloral honey.

Dual‐Ligand Metal‐Organic Frameworks via In Situ Amidoxime Engineering for Selective Ion Separation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Inspired by microbial ion‐trapping mechanisms, a mild and universal strategy is developed to construct highly porous amidoxime‐functionalized MOFs. DFT calculations and molecular force measurements reveal that the dual‐ligand amidoxime configuration significantly strengthens Ga(III) affinity.

Adaptation to the eye's chromatic aberration measured with an adaptive optics visual simulator.

open access: yesOptics Express, 2020
Some aspects of vision after correcting the longitudinal chromatic aberration (LCA) of the eye are not yet completely understood. For instance, correcting the LCA notably alters the through focus visual acuity (VA) curve, but it does not improve the best

Bio‐Inspired Magnetically Tunable Structural Colors from Elliptical Self‐Assembled Block Copolymer Microparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Cephalopod‐inspired photonic microparticles with dynamic structural coloration are fabricated via confined self‐assembly of linear block copolymers into ellipsoids containing stacked lamellae. Embedded superparamagnetic nanoparticles enable rapid magnetic alignment, restoring vivid, angle‐dependent color.

A Synovium‐on‐Chip Platform to Study Multicellular Interactions in Arthritis

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
The Synovium‐on‐Chip comprises a thin microporous PDMS membrane to support co‐culture of fibroblast‐like synoviocytes (FLS), THP‐1‐derived macrophages, and endothelial cells, enabling real‐time analysis of synovial‐vascular interactions. FLS migration through the pores drives endothelial remodeling, while TNF‐α stimulation induces robust inflammatory ...

A Soft Microrobot for Single‐Cell Transport, Spheroid Assembly, and Dual‐Mode Drug Screening

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A soft, untethered hydrogel microrobot enables precise single‐cell delivery, self‐assembly into 3D spheroids, and real‐time thermal actuation. Driven by light‐induced convection and embedded with gold nanorods and temperature sensors, the microrobot guides cells, modulates local microenvironments, and supports drug testing.
