The Chromatic Scale: Second Octave
2023Abstract With just a couple of changes to the chromatic scale introduced in Chapter 20, a second octave can be added to the chromatic scale, introduced here in Chapter 21.

Rectangular Uniform-Chromaticity-Scale Coordinates
Journal of the Optical Society of America, 1939The advantages and limitations of the I.C.I. coordinate system and the trilinear coordinate system yielding uniform chromaticity scales as proposed by Judd are compared. The advantages for engineering applications of a system combining rectangular coordinates with the uniform chromaticity scale (U.C.S.) are pointed out. The U.C.S.

Uniform Chromaticity Scales — New Experimental Data
Journal of the Society of Dyers and Colourists, 1982Sets of coloured paint and textile samples have been prepared, each set consisting of pairs of samples giving small chromaticity differences with a good coverage of the possible directions. For most sets the lightness differences were negligible, but for a few sets extra samples showing significant lightness differences were included.

(θ, δ) uniform-scale chromaticity diagram
Computer Physics Communications, 1992The non-uniformity of scale in the usual chromaticity diagrams is a very old problem in colour measurements. This program computes the transformation from the CIE 1931 (x, y) chromaticity diagram to the recent uniform scale (θ, δ) diagram and vice-versa. Moreover the program evaluates the most important colorimetric quantities for a comparison with the

An unequal temperament is described in which the fifths and fourths of the tuning chain have the same beat rate. No Wolf intervals are produced and all intervals can be described by ratios of integers. The equal heating chromatic scale is an excellent approximation to equal temperament; moreover it may well represent a closer approximation to Bach's ...

The Fry Uniform Chromaticity Scale Diagram
Topical Meeting on Color Appearance, 1987In 1945 I1 formulated a theory of the retinal mechanisms for generating signals in the optic nerve fibers that would provide a basis for my modulation theory of color vision. In the process I developed a uniform chromaticity scale diagram.

Color differences scaled by chromatic modulation sensitivity functions
Vision Research, 1978Abstract Chromatically-modulated spatial stimuli were produced by superimposing two equally bright sine-wave gratings 180° out of phase on a uniform background field. Each of the gratings was illuminated with a different monochromatic light, and the background field contained an equal-brightness mixture of the same two lights as in the gratings.

Chromatic perspectives... scaling my art
Proceedings of the 18th ACM international conference on Multimedia, 2010This paper attempts to describe Chromatic Perspectives... Scaling my Art; which addresses the results of a trans-medial exploration departing from an"unframed"process of creativity and multi layered convergence within traditional media Art and virtual Art, mathematics, motion-Golden Ratio, motion perspective, nonlinear dimensionality, immersive virtual

Chromatic interpolation based on anisotropy-scale-mixture statistics
Signal Processing, 2014We present an efficient approach for reconstructing full-color images from imagery data acquired using a color filter array (CFA). On the basis of our understanding of early visual processing in humans, we utilize a correlation among the multi-scale directional-anisotropy statistics observed in natural images in order to estimate the missing high ...

A New Integral Ratio Chromatic Scale
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1953The IRC scale presented herein is neither a Pythagorean scale, nor a just scale, nor an equally tempered scale, as those terms are defined in Acoustical Terminology, but it is shown to possess the major advantages of all three. In a D-D octave, all of the notes are interconnected by a perfectly symmetrical arrangement of just fourths, and the note ...
