The morphology of oxide reduction: Chromic oxide
Journal of Materials Science, 1967The mechanism of the high shrinkage that occurs in chromic oxide in reducing conditions has been investigated by micrographic, analytical, electrical resistance, and other means. The effect of the reducing conditions is to modify the surface of the oxide particles, the core remaining normal oxide (i.e. oxygen excess).

Chromic oxide as refractory material
Refractories, 1977The article deals with chromic oxide and other oxides of chromium and with the systems which chromic oxide forms with other oxides and which are of importance in the production and application of refractories. In most systems Cr2O3 coexists with the other oxides and their high-melting compounds.

Chromic acid oxidation of polycyclic alcohols
Journal of the Chemical Society B: Physical Organic, 1971The rates of oxidation by chromic acid in acetic acid of a series of bicyclo[2,2,1]heptan-2-ols with symmetrical exo-5,6-substituents (1,2-benzene and 1,8-naphthalene) have been measured. Rates of oxidation were found to be determined largely by the degree of nonbonded interactions in the ground state of the molecules except in the case of endo ...

Chromic acid oxidation of aromatic alcohols
Canadian Journal of Chemistry, 1969The mechanism of the chromic acid oxidation of di- and tri-aryl carbinols has been studied in 80 wt% acetic acid containing sulfuric acid. The reactions are cleanly second-order and give benzophenones in the case of the secondary alcohols and benzophenones plus phenols in the case of the tertiary alcohols.

Chromic oxide refractories from granular compositions
Refractories, 1977An investigation was carried out of the chemical composition, grain-size distribution, and firing temperature of the chromic oxide briquets and the specimens as factors in the properties of the latter.
