Temperature Acclimation of the Picoalga Ostreococcus tauri Triggers Early Fatty-Acid Variations and Involves a Plastidial ω3-Desaturase

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2021
Alteration of fatty-acid unsaturation is a universal response to temperature changes. Marine microalgae display the largest diversity of polyunsaturated fatty-acid (PUFA) whose content notably varies according to temperature.

Kingdoms Protozoa and Chromista and the eozoan root of the eukaryotic tree [PDF]

open access: yesBiology Letters, 2010
I discuss eukaryotic deep phylogeny and reclassify the basal eukaryotic kingdom Protozoa and derived kingdom Chromista in the light of multigene trees. I transfer the formerly protozoan Heliozoa and infrakingdoms Alveolata and Rhizaria into Chromista, which is sister to kingdom Plantae and arguably originated by synergistic double internal

Exploration and Effectiveness of Trichoderma sp. from Jember and Trenggalek, East Java, Indonesia Cacao Plantation as A Biological Control of Phytophthora palmivora [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2021
Fruit rot disease is very damaging to cacao pods, which is caused by Phytoptora palmivora. The attack rate of P. palmivora varies. In Java, losses due to this disease reduce yields by 90 %. P. palmivora is a soil–borne pathogen.

A single-cell genomics pipeline for environmental microbial eukaryotes

open access: yesiScience, 2021
Summary: Single-cell sequencing of environmental microorganisms is an essential component of the microbial ecology toolkit. However, large-scale targeted single-cell sequencing for the whole-genome recovery of uncultivated eukaryotes is lagging.

Phylogenetic relationships and nomenclature of Bremiella sphaerosperma (Chromista, Peronosporales)

open access: hybridMycotaxon, 2007
Molecular phylogenetic analyses using D1¿3 and D7¿8 nrLSU rDNA sequence data clearly show that Bremiella sphaerosperma is embedded within Plasmopara sensu stricto. Therefore, it is transferred to the genus Plasmopara; for nomenclatural reasons, we propose the new name Plasmopara constantinescui.
