Rate and Mechanism of Reduction-Dissolution of Chromite in Liquid Slags
The dissolution of chromite from the Bushveld Complex of South Africa in liquid slags was studied in the temperature range 1550° to 1665°C under argon gas. The slag compositions were similar to those of ferrochromium production and stainless steel making.

Effect of particle shape properties on selective separation of chromite from serpentine by flotation
: Although many studies have been conducted on the morphological variations and its effects on flotation recoveries of a single mineral system, a systematic study for the flotation behavior of mixtures of minerals has not dwelled much.

Mineral reconnaissance at the Highland boundary with special reference to the Loch Lomond and Aberfoyle areas [PDF]
Serpentinite bodies at the Highland Boundary in the Loch Lomond and Aberfoyle areas are extensively altered to magnesite-quartz and ferroan-dolomite-quartz rocks. Silicification was probably initiated before conversion to carbonate.

The Great Dyke of Zimbabwe is notable for its rich platinum group metal deposits but poses significant geological and geotechnical challenges due to its complex rock types and structural features. Traditional pillar design methods are insufficient for addressing these complexities; the study suggests incorporating advanced techniques such as machine ...

Platinum-group element mineralisation in the Unst ophiolite, Shetland [PDF]
The ophiolitic basic and ultrabasic rocks of the island of Unst, Shetland comprise a sequence of harzburgites, dunites, clinopyroxene-rich cumulates, and gabbro, within tectonic blocks that have been thrust over a migmatite complex during the Laxer ...

Magnetic-induced phonon anisotropy in ZnCr$_2$O$_4$ from first principles
We have studied the influence of magnetic order on the optical phonons of the geometrically frustrated spinel ZnCr$_2$O$_4$ from first-principles. By mapping the first-principles phonon calculations onto a Heisenberg-like model, we developed a method to ...

This study validates a recycling pathway for converting interconnect assemblies from end‐of‐life SOC stacks into commercial‐grade AISI 304 steels. Using scrap‐based steelmaking operations, austenitic cast steels with <4.0% δ‐ferrite are successfully produced.
