Provenance Reassessment of Eocene Turbidites, New Caledonia: Inferences for Obduction Models

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, Volume 26, Issue 12, December 2025.
Abstract Provenance of pre‐obduction Eocene turbidites from New Caledonia is used to better constrain their geodynamic context and inform debate on subduction polarity. Chemical compositions of detrital clinopyroxenes in arenites are compared against potential sources.

Mineralogically Diverse and Salt‐Rich Regolith in Jezero Crater Characterized Using X‐Ray Spectroscopy

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Planets, Volume 130, Issue 10, October 2025.
Abstract The Planetary Instrument for X‐ray Lithochemistry (PIXL) onboard the Perseverance rover has characterized the composition of Martian regolith at a scale of hundreds of microns using micro‐focus X‐ray fluorescence spectroscopy. PIXL data reveal a diverse population of regolith grains with distinct spectral, chemical, and crystallographic ...

The Use of Ornamental Stone Waste (OSW) as Raw Material for Porcelain Ceramic Tiles Production

open access: yesInternational Journal of Ceramic Engineering &Science, Volume 7, Issue 5, September 2025.
ABSTRACT Despite the relevant contribution of the ornamental stone industry to the international economy, the large volume of waste generated during the production process is one of the main problems faced by the sector. Currently, the ceramic industry has shown to be a powerful alternative for the use of these wastes.

OPTIMISATION OF THE BENEFICIATION PROCESS OF CHROMITE SAND TO PRODUCE RAW MATERIAL FOR RAPID SAND-CASTING PURPOSES

open access: yesSouth African Journal of Industrial Engineering
This study focuses on optimising the beneficiation process of South African chromite sand for use in rapid sand-casting applications, particularly for three-dimensional printing (3DP). South Africa’s vast chromite reserves provide a unique opportunity to produce high-quality chromite sand that is tailored for modern manufacturing needs.
