Abstract Chromitites, associated with upper mantle peridotites of ophiolites from southeastern Turkey, are lenticular bodies or veinlets made up of massive, banded and disseminated chromite. Chromite shows a wide range of Cr# [Cr/(Cr + Al)] varying between 0.42 and 0.81, and Mg# [Mg/(Mg + Fe2 +)] of 0.45 to 0.75.

Abstract Hydrogen was first detected in the Bulqizë ophiolite massif (Albania) in 1992, and its origin remains uncertain, with hypotheses ranging from active serpentinization to the release of trapped, fossil H2. To constrain the thickness of the ophiolite layer—a key parameter for evaluating hydrogen generation—we conducted a magnetotelluric survey ...

Bismuth-nickel mineralization in chromitites of Mariinskii deposit (Urals emerald mines)
The unusual Bi-Ni mineralization, represented by parkerite, millerite, bismutohauchecornite, bismuthinite, nickeline and, possibly nickel analogue of smythite (?), found in the metasomatically altered chromite rocks of the Mariinsky emerald-beryllium ...

We have collected, processed and analysed the reflectance spectra of representative chromitite samples of spot type, clot type and disseminated type textural variants to understand the diagnostic spectral features of each of these samples. We have found that the reflectance spectrum of each textural variant is distinct from the spectra of other ...

Recycling Subducted Organic Carbon as Diamonds: An Example From the New Caledonia Forearc Ophiolite
Abstract Micro‐diamonds and moissanite (SiC) have been identified in ophiolitic mantle harzburgites and chromitites of the New Caledonian Peridotite Nappe. The pale yellow (100–250 μm) micro‐diamonds and light blue moissanite (mean −26.5‰, range −33.5‰ to −23.8‰ and mean −26.9‰, range −31.8‰ to −25.6‰ respectively) exhibit consistently strong negative ...

Chromite ores formation is still a debated topic and, in this study, detailed analyses of major, minor elements by EMPA and Rare Earth Elements (REE) by SIMS, were performed on silicate inclusions detected in chromite grains of chromitite pods, enveloping dunites and on clinopyroxene of lherzolitic host rock of well known Trodoos chromite ores. Results

Key Points Comprehensive review of dissolution‐decomposition methods based on acid attack and molten salt fusion. Dissolution remains the preferred method for many modern instrumental measurement principles e.g., ICP‐MS, ICP‐AES and TIMS. Comprehensive reviews of flux-free fusion for glasses and production of pressed powder pellets for analysis by EPMA,
