Exhumed Serpentinites and Their Tectonic Significance in Non‐Collisional Orogens

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, Volume 25, Issue 2, February 2024.
Abstract Exhumed serpentinites are fragments of ancient oceanic lithosphere or mantle wedge that record deep fluid‐rock interactions and metasomatic processes. While common in suture zones after closure of ocean basins, in non‐collisional orogens their origin and tectonic significance are not fully understood.

There were no large volumes of felsic continental crust in the early Earth [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
New model growth curves for the continental crust based upon Hf-isotopes in zircon suggest that large volumes of felsic continental crust were present in the Hadean and early Archaean.

Petrogenesis of fertile mantle peridotites from the Monte del Estado massif (Southwest Puerto Rico): a preserved section of Proto-Caribbean lithospheric mantle? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The Monte del Estado massif is the largest and northernmost serpentinized peridotite belt in southwest Puerto Rico. It is mainly composed of spinel lherzolite and minor harzburgite with variable clinopyroxene modal abundances.

Multi-stage formation of the Feragen ophiolite, Norway: Implication from petrology and geochemistry of peridotites and chromitites and its potential for prospecting

open access: yesChina Geology
: The ultramafic massif of Feragen, which belongs to the eastern ophiolitic belt of Norway, has abundant amounts of chromite ores. Recent studies have revealed a complex melt evolution in a supra-subduction zone (SSZ) environment. This study presents new
