Semiconductivity in Chromium (III) Trisacetylacetone

Thin films of chromium (III) trisacetylacetone complex are found to be p-type semiconductors. The analysis of the current–voltage characteristics in the dark and under illumination indicates that the results are consistent with the assumption of an exponential distribution of trapping states in the forbidden gap.

Stable chromium complex (AcO)CrTPP was synthesized through the reaction of meso-tetraphenylporphine with chromium(III) acetate in boiling phenol. Coordination properties of chromium porphyrin in reaction with imidazole and pyridine in o-xylene were studied by electronic absorption spectroscopy and computer modeling.
