Barrett's Esophageal Adenocarcinoma with Neuroendocrine Cell Carcinoma Treated by Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection: A Case Report and Literature Review

open access: yesDEN Open, Volume 6, Issue 1, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Barrett's esophageal adenocarcinoma (BEA) with neuroendocrine cell carcinoma (NEC) is a rare disease with a poor prognosis. We report a case of BEA with NEC treated by endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) with en bloc resection and long‐term survival was achieved without additional treatment.

Amniotic fluid embolism pathophysiology suggests the new diagnostic armamentarium: β-tryptase and complement fractions C3-C4 are the indispensable working tools [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Amniotic fluid embolism (AFE) is an uncommon obstetric condition involving pregnant women during labor or in the initial stages after delivery. Its incidence is estimated to be around 5.5 cases per 100,000 deliveries.

A Case of Pancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumor Growing Intraductal Extension toward the Main Pancreatic Duct Complicated by Thrombocytopenia: Diagnostic Challenges and Management Strategy

open access: yesDEN Open, Volume 6, Issue 1, April 2026.
ABSTRACT We present a rare and diagnostically challenging case of a pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor (pNET) with intraductal growth into the main pancreatic duct (MPD), complicated by severe thrombocytopenia due to myelodysplastic syndrome. A 37‐year‐old male presented with thrombocytopenia.

Analysis of Fast Dynamic Processes in Living Cells: High-Resolution and High-Speed Dual-Color Imaging Combined with Automated Image Analysis

open access: yesBioTechniques, 2000
The generation of spectral mutants of the green fluorescent protein (GFP) set the stage for multiple-color imaging in living cells. However, the use of this technique has been limited by a spectral overlap of the available GFP mutants and/or by ...

Chromogranin B-induced secretory granule biogenesis: comparison with the similar role of chromogranin A.

open access: yesThe Journal of biological chemistry, 2003
The two major proteins of secretory granules of secretory cells, chromogranins A (CGA) and B (CGB), have previously been proposed to play key roles in secretory granule biogenesis. Recently, CGA was reported to play an on/off switch role for secretory granule biogenesis.

Small Intestinal Metastasis From Pulmonary Large Cell Carcinoma Detected by Capsule Endoscopy and Balloon‐assisted Endoscopy, Followed by Early Surgical Resection: A Case Report

open access: yesDEN Open, Volume 6, Issue 1, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Metastasis of lung cancer to the small intestine is rare and often diagnosed only after life‐threatening complications such as perforation or obstruction. We report a case of small intestinal metastasis from pulmonary large cell carcinoma, diagnosed using balloon‐assisted endoscopy (BAE) performed for obscure gastrointestinal bleeding (OGIB ...

Forward‐Viewing Endoscopic Ultrasound‐Guided Fine‐Needle Biopsy for a Hypopharyngeal Carcinoma Mimicking a Subepithelial Lesion: A Case Report

open access: yesDEN Open, Volume 6, Issue 1, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Subepithelial lesions (SELs) of the head and neck have a low diagnostic yield with mucosal biopsy and carry a bleeding risk. Among endoscopic ultrasound–tissue acquisition (EUS‐TA) techniques, fine‐needle biopsy (FNB) provides higher specimen adequacy and diagnostic accuracy than fine‐needle aspiration (FNA).

CSF protein biomarkers predicting longitudinal reduction of CSF β-amyloid42 in cognitively healthy elders. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
β-amyloid (Aβ) plaque accumulation is a hallmark of Alzheimer's disease (AD). It is believed to start many years prior to symptoms and is reflected by reduced cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) levels of the peptide Aβ1-42 (Aβ42).
