Immunological Characterization of Secretory Proteins of Chromaffin Granules: Chromogranins A, Chromogranins B, and Enkephalin‐Containing Peptides

Journal of Neurochemistry, 1985
Abstract:The soluble proteins of bovine chromaffin granules can be resolved into about 40 proteins by twodimensional electrophoresis. Use of several antisera enabled us to characterize most of these proteins with the immune replica technique. An antiserum against dopamine β‐hydroxylase reacted with one protein of Mr 75,000.

Co-distribution patterns of chromogranin B-like immunoreactivity with chromogranin A and secretoneurin within the human brainstem

Brain Research, 2000
As members of the chromogranin family, chromogranin A, chromogranin B, and secretogranin II are acidic proteins found in large, dense core vesicles. They are endoproteolytically processed to smaller peptides and released after neuronal stimulation. Using immunocytochemistry, this study closely examines chromogranin B-like immunoreactivity within the ...

Primary structure of bovine chromogranin B deduced from cDNA sequence

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Gene Structure and Expression, 1991
The cDNA sequence of bovine chromogranin B has been determined. Bovine chromogranin B consists of 626 amino acids and contains 16 pairs of basic amino acids which might be used for generation of biological active peptides. A comparison of the amino acid sequences of chromogranin B from various species identifies regions of high homology at the N- and C-

Different expression of chromogranin A and chromogranin B in various types of pituitary adenomas.

Zentralblatt fur Pathologie, 1993
Two hundred and nineteen (33 GH, 21 GH-PRL, 38 PRL, 16 ACTH, 1 TSH cell functioning and 38 FSH-LH, 17 alpha-chain, 8 mixed, 27 minimal glycoprotein--MIN-GLYC--, 11 small argyrophil granule--SAG--, 4 silent TSH-sTSH--and 5 silent ACTH-sACTH--cell nonfunctioning) adenomas were investigated immunohistochemically with antibodies against ACTH, GH, PRL, TSH,

Secretogranin I/Chromogranin B Is a Heparin‐Binding Adhesive Protein

Journal of Neurochemistry, 1992
Abstract: The major heparin‐binding protein secreted by PC12 cells was purified from conditioned medium. Amino‐terminal sequencing of the purified protein identified it as secretogranin I/chromogranin B (SgI/ChmB). The protein showed the same electrophoretic mobility and biochemical characteristics as previously reported for SgI/ChmB and could be ...

Phylogenetic Distribution of Peptides Related to Chromogranins A and B

Journal of Neurochemistry, 1988
Abstract: The presence of chromogranin‐related peptides in a wide range of species was investigated by one‐ and two‐dimensional electrophoresis followed by immunoblotting. Antisera against bovine chromogranins A and B and the peptide WE‐14 (chromogranin A316–329) were used.

Distribution of chromogranin A and secretogranin I (chromogranin B) in neuroendocrine cells and tumors.

The American journal of pathology, 1988
The distribution of chromogranin A and secretogranin I (chromogranin B) in normal and neoplastic human endocrine tissues was analyzed with two human monoclonal antibodies against chromogranin A, anti-bovine antiserum against chromogranin A, and an anti-rat antiserum against secretogranin I.

Differential regulation of chromogranin A, chromogranin B and secretoneurin protein expression after transient forebrain ischemia in the gerbil

Acta Neuropathologica, 2001
The chromogranin/secretogranin family of proteins is widely distributed in the central nervous system, where they are stored in large dense-core vesicles. These proproteins are actively processed into small neuroactive peptides, which influence neurotransmitter release, microglial activation and monocyte migration.

Chromogranin (A, B,C) - Expression beim muzinösen Mammacarcinom / Chromogranin (A, B, C): Expression in Mucinous Carcinomas of the Breast

2001

Immunohistochemical demonstration of chromogranin A, chromogranin B, and secretoneurin in primary non-small-cell carcinomas of the lung

Endocrine Pathology, 1994
Fifty-three primary non-small-cell lung carcinomas (NSCLC) were immunohistochemically investigated with antibodies against chromogranin A, chromogranin B, and ecretoneurin. All 3 peptides were focally immunolocalized in 3 of 25 adenocarcinomas and in 2 of 6 large-cell anaplastic carcinomas in more than 20% of tumor cells.
