Dual targeting of RET and SRC synergizes in RET fusion‐positive cancer cells
Despite the strong activity of selective RET tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), resistance of RET fusion‐positive (RET+) lung cancer and thyroid cancer frequently occurs and is mainly driven by RET‐independent bypass mechanisms. Son et al. show that SRC TKIs significantly inhibit PAK and AKT survival signaling and enhance the efficacy of RET TKIs in ...

Common Wheat Chromosome 5B Composition Analysis Using Low-Coverage 454 Sequencing
The sequencing of individual chromosomes of common wheat is in progress. The molecular size of wheat chromosome 5B is nearly 870 Mb (5BL = 580 Mb and 5BS = 290 Mb).

Chromosome drives via CRISPR-Cas9 in yeast
Self-propagating drive systems are capable of causing non-Mendelian inheritance. Here, we report a drive system in yeast referred to as a chromosome drive that eliminates the target chromosome via CRISPR-Cas9, enabling the transmission of the desired ...

Quantitative Genetic Mapping and Genome Assembly in the Lesser Wax Moth Achroia grisella
Specific characteristics of the male Achroia grisella acoustic mating signal determine a male’s attractiveness toward females. These features are genetically variable in populations, and mapping experiments have been used to identify loci contributing to

Short communication: Characterization of the genome-wide linkage disequilibrium in 2 divergent selection lines of dairy cows [PDF]
The objective of this study was to describe results of a genome-wide map of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) and assess the linkage disequilibrium (LD) level in 2 divergent selection lines of dairy cows. DNA extracted from 299 Holstein cows was used

The noncoding region of the genome plays a key role in regulating gene expression, and mutations within these regions are capable of altering it. Researchers have identified multiple functional noncoding mutations associated with increased cancer risk in the genome of breast cancer patients.

The Human Pregnancy-Specific Glycoprotein Genes are Tightly Linked on the Long Arm of Chromosome 19 and are Coordinately Expressed [PDF]
The pregnancy-specific glycoprotein (PSG) genes encode a group of proteins which are found in large amounts in placenta and maternal serum. In situ hybridization analyses of metaphase chromosomes reveal that all the human pregnancy-specific glycoprotein (

We developed and validated a DNA methylation–based biomarker panel to distinguish pleural mesothelioma from other pleural conditions. Using the IMPRESS technology, we translated this panel into a clinically applicable assay. The resulting two classifier models demonstrated excellent performance, achieving high AUC values and strong diagnostic accuracy.
