Chromosome counts of some Zingiberaceous species from Thailand [PDF]
The data on chromosome numbers of 22 species belonging to 10 genera of Zingiberaceae distributed in Thailand were investigated. The somatic numbers range from 20 to 48 showing diploidy and polyploidy.

Modeling meiotic chromosomes indicates a size dependent contribution of telomere clustering and chromosome rigidity to homologue juxtaposition [PDF]
Meiosis is the cell division that halves the genetic component of diploid cells to form gametes or spores. To achieve this, meiotic cells undergo a radical spatial reorganisation of chromosomes.

Circumnutation in the growth of Chara rhizoids
The chromosome numbers of 24 species of Achillea L. were determined, among them 4 for the first time (A. chamaemelifolia, A. sulphurea, A. teretifolia, A. vermicularis). A tetraploid form of A. lingulata was found for the first time. The occurrence of di-

Cytogenetic study and pollen viability of three populations of Diplotaxis harra (Brassicaceae) in Iran [PDF]
In this study, we examined the chromosome number, detailed male meiosis, microsporogenesis, pollen fertility and distribution of cytotypes of Diplotaxis harra (Forssk.) Boiss. This is the first cytogenetic report of the taxon.

Cytogenetic study of two Solenanthus Ledeb. species (Boraginaceae) in Iran [PDF]
Chromosome number, meiotic behavior, and pollen viability were analyzed in 2 species of genus Solenanthus, S. stamineus (Desf.) Wettst. and S. circinnatus Ledeb, from Iran. This report is the first cytogenetic analysis of these species.

On the origin of crossover interference : a chromosome oscillatory movement (COM) model [PDF]
Background: It is now nearly a century since it was first discovered that crossovers between homologous parental chromosomes, originating at the Prophase stage of Meiosis I, are not randomly placed.

Problematic octaploid forms and a new chromosome number in the genus Achillea L., 2n = 126
Among the offspring of a problematic form of Achillea sp., a 2n = 126 seedling which probably arose as the result of fusion of unreduced octo- and hexaploid gametes (72 + 54) was found along with seedlings having an octaploid chromosome number (2n = 72).
