Decoding the Cellular Heterogeneity and Malignant Progression of Human Penile Squamous Cell Carcinoma by Single‐Cell RNA Sequencing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Single‐cell transcriptomic and functional analyses identify SEMA3C as a key regulator of tumor progression and tumor microenvironment remodeling in penile squamous cell carcinoma. SEMA3C promotes epithelial–mesenchymal transition, tumor growth, and invasion while shaping an immunosuppressive microenvironment, highlighting its potential as a prognostic ...

In Vivo Imaging of the Segregation of the 2 Chromosomes and the Cell Division Proteins of Rhodobacter sphaeroides Reveals an Unexpected Role for MipZ

open access: yesmBio, 2019
Coordinating chromosome duplication and segregation with cell division is clearly critical for bacterial species with one chromosome. The precise choreography required is even more complex in species with more than one chromosome.

CCDC41 Drives Oocyte Meiotic Progression by Promoting Rab11a/Rab7‐Positive Vesicle Fusion with Target Membranes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
CCDC41 is essential for meiotic maturation in mouse oocytes through regulating Rab7‐positive endosomes fusion with lysosomes and Rab11a‐positive vesicle fusion with the plasma membrane. Abstract Coiled‐coil domain‐containing protein 41 (CCDC41), a core component of centriolar distal appendages involved in centriole assembly and ciliary vesicle docking,

Cdk1-dependent phosphorylation of KIF4A at S1186 triggers lateral chromosome compaction during early mitosis.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2018
Chromosome organization during cell division is achieved through the timely association of proteins with chromatin and is regulated by protein phosphorylation.

Identification of an interchromosomal compartment by polymerization of nuclear-targeted vimentin [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
A number of structural and functional subnuclear compartments have been described, including regions exclusive of chromosomes previously hypothesized to form a reactive nuclear space.

The physics of epigenetics

open access: yes, 2016
In higher organisms, all cells share the same genome, but every cell expresses only a limited and specific set of genes that defines the cell type. During cell division, not only the genome, but also the cell type is inherited by the daughter cells. This

Integrated Transcriptomics Reveals Evolutionary Trajectories and Cell Density‐Dependent Mechanisms in Aldosterone‐Producing Adenomas

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Aldosterone‐producing adenomas (APAs) develop via two distinct paths: directly from adrenal zona glomerulosa (zG) cells, or stepwise from zG cells through aldosterone‐producing micronodules (APMs) before progressing to APAs. Advanced single‐cell and spatial analyses identified distinct cell states linked to oxidative stress and cell–cell interactions ...

Epstein‐Barr Virus Expressed Long Non‐Coding RNA (lncBARTs) Regulate EBV Latent Genome Replication

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
EBV produces abundant level of lncBARTs, which are essential for maintaining viral genome replication in EBV‐associated cancers. LncBARTs interact with a complex comprising BRD4, CTCF and viral protein EBNA1 at EBV oriP region. This interaction tethers oriP to host chromosomes, facilitating EBV episome replication.

Oncogenic lncRNA transgene transcription modulates epigenetic memory at a naïve chromosomal locus

open access: yesNucleus
Maintaining genome integrity is essential for the proper functioning and development of organisms. An intriguing aspect is that neocentromeres can form at non-centromeric sites.
