Microdissection and Chromosome Painting

open access: yes, 2015
The principle of chromosome microdissection technique is based on the identification of either a chromosome, chromosome arm or chromosome band for the subsequent removal of such target with the aid of a micromanipulator attached to an inverted microscope. Once the target is defined, whole chromosomes, or chromosomal regions, are directly isolated under

Chromosome Painting In Silico in a Bacterial Species Reveals Fine Population Structure

open access: yesMolecular biology and evolution, 2013
Identifying population structure forms an important basis for genetic and evolutionary studies. Most current methods to identify population structure have limitations in analyzing haplotypes and recombination across the genome.

Towards many colors in FISH on 3D-preserved interphase nuclei [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The article reviews the existing methods of multicolor FISH on nuclear targets, first of all, interphase chromosomes. FISH proper and image acquisition are considered as two related components of a single process.

Lipid Droplet‐Localized Spindle Apparatus Coiled‐Coil Protein 1 Regulates Lipid Droplet Distribution

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
SPDL1‐L, a long isoform of SPDL1, is identified as a bona fide lipid droplet‐associated protein that acts as a dynein adaptor to drive perinuclear clustering of lipid droplets. By linking lipid droplets to the microtubule network, SPDL1‐L extends the function of SPDL1 beyond mitosis and contributes to lipid droplet organization and nuclear remodeling ...

Comparative chromosome band mapping in primates byin situ suppression hybridization of band specific DNA microlibraries [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
A DNA-library established from microdissected bands 8q23 to 8q24.1 of normal human chromosomes 8 (Lüdecke et al., 1989) was used as a probe for chromosomal in situ suppression (CISS-) hybridization to metaphase chromosomes of man and primates including ...

Ferroptosis‐Mediated Hippocampal Neuronal Loss Post‐mTBI: Chromatin Accessibility Profiling and Single‐Nucleus Transcriptomics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Hippocampal single ‐nucleus transcriptomes and chromatin accessibility after mild traumatic brain injury reveal dentate granule neuron vulnerability driven by ferroptosis. The c‐Jun–Tmsb4x–Slc2a2 axis modulates lipid peroxidation and iron dysregulation.

The genome diversity and karyotype evolution of mammals

open access: yesMolecular Cytogenetics, 2011
The past decade has witnessed an explosion of genome sequencing and mapping in evolutionary diverse species. While full genome sequencing of mammals is rapidly progressing, the ability to assemble and align orthologous whole chromosome regions from more ...

A genetic basis for a postmeiotic X versus Y chromosome intragenomic conflict in the mouse. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Intragenomic conflicts arise when a genetic element favours its own transmission to the detriment of others. Conflicts over sex chromosome transmission are expected to have influenced genome structure, gene regulation, and speciation.

A Self‐Organized Liquid Reaction Container for Cellular Memory

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
How cells restore epigenetic information lost during replication is not known. This work proposes a mechanism based on the formation of biomolecular condensates. These condensates are induced by the chromosome itself and serve as reaction vessels for reconstructing missing epigenetic markers.
