Endomyocardial biopsy in the diagnosis of cardiac sarcoidosis

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Heart Failure, EarlyView.
The diagnostic performance of endomyocardial biopsy (EMB) in 216 patients with cardiac sarcoidosis (CS). The overall sensitivity of the first EMB was 38%, although it varied markedly depending on the extent and severity of the disease. Severity of effect considerations regarding the use of mutation as a toxicological endpoint for risk assessment: A report from the 8th International Workshop on Genotoxicity Testing (IWGT)

open access: yesEnvironmental and Molecular Mutagenesis, EarlyView.
Abstract Exposure levels without appreciable human health risk may be determined by dividing a point of departure on a dose–response curve (e.g., benchmark dose) by a composite adjustment factor (AF). An “effect severity” AF (ESAF) is employed in some regulatory contexts.

Nondiagnostic, radial‐probe endobronchial ultrasound‐guided biopsy for peripheral lung lesions: The added value of radiomics from ultrasound imaging for predicting malignancy

open access: yesThoracic Cancer, Volume 14, Issue 2, Page 177-185, January 2023., 2023
This study investigated whether radiomic features extracted from radial‐probe endobronchial ultrasound (radial EBUS) images can assist in decision‐making for subsequent clinical management in cases with indeterminate pathologic results. We demonstrated a radiomics‐added, malignancy prediction model that can categorize lesions with nondiagnostic lung ...

Calculation of the mean duration and age of onset of a chronic disease and application to dementia in Germany [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2011
This paper descibes a new method of calculating the mean duration and mean age of onset of a chronic disease from incidence and mortality rates. It is based on an ordinary differential equation resulting from a simple compartment model. Applicability of the method is demonstrated in data about dementia in Germany.
