Apoptotic epitope-specific CD8+ T cells and interferon signaling intersect in chronic hepatitis C virus infection [PDF]
CD8(+) T cells specific to caspase-cleaved antigens derived from apoptotic T cells represent a principal player in chronic immune activation (CIA). Here, we found that both apoptotic epitope (AE)-specific and hepatitis C virus (HCV)-specific CD8(+) T ...

T Cell Exhaustion in Cancer Immunotherapy: Heterogeneity, Mechanisms, and Therapeutic Opportunities
T cell exhaustion limits immunotherapy efficacy. This article delineates its progression from stem‐like to terminally exhausted states, governed by persistent antigen, transcription factors, epigenetics, and metabolism. It maps the exhaustion landscape in the TME and proposes integrated reversal strategies, providing a translational roadmap to overcome

Dynamics of cell population structure in liver biopsy of the patients with chronic hepatitis viral infection [PDF]
The cell population analysis of liver biopsies from the patients with both chronic hepatitis, chronic viral hepatitis C (HCV) and chronic viral hepatitis B (HBV) included the comparative evaluation of the specific part of non-parenchymal elements ...

Hepatocyte BDNF Acts as a Novel Immune Checkpoint to Restrain TLR4‐Mediated Acute Hepatitis
This study identifies hepatocyte‐derived BDNF as an endogenous TLR4 antagonist that alleviates acute hepatitis. BDNF is downregulated in hepatocytes via REST‐mediated transcriptional repression during ALI/ALF. Mechanistically, BDNF binds to TLR4 on macrophages to suppress inflammation.

Hepatitis E virus infection in chronic liver disease causes rapid decompensation
Hepatitis E previously known as enterically transmitted non-A, non-B hepatitis, is a self limiting infectious viral disease of developing countries. Various issues regarding the pathogenesis of liver injury and its natural history remain unanswered after

Non cell autonomous upregulation of CDKN2 transcription linked to progression of chronic hepatitis C disease [PDF]
Chronic hepatitis C virus infection (C-HC) is associated with higher mortality arising from hepatic and extrahepatic disease. This may be due to accelerated biological aging; however, studies in C-HC have thus far been based solely on telomere length as ...

Designing Scalable Mechano‐Virucidal Nanostructured Acrylic Surfaces for Enhanced Viral Inactivation
Can a surface be designed to physically break viruses? This study explores how nanoscale geometry—specifically the spacing of tiny pillars—can determine whether viruses remain intact or rupture. Using flexible acrylic and a scalable fabrication process, the authors develop nanopillared, transparent surfaces that show strong antiviral activity without ...

Epidemiological patterns of hepatitis B virus (HBV) in highly endemic areas [PDF]
This paper uses meta-analysis of published data and a deterministic mathematical model of hepatitis B virus (HBV) transmission to describe the patterns of HBV infection in high endemicity areas.

ABSTRACT Liver injury can lead to severe acute liver failure and even death in patients. Artesunate (ART), which is a derivative of artemisinin that has been approved by the FDA for the treatment of malaria, has significant regulatory effects on cell death and inflammation.
