Activation of SIRT1 Reduces Renal Tubular Epithelial Cells Fibrosis in Hypoxia Through SIRT1‐FoxO1‐FoxO3‐Autophagy Pathway

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
Hypoxia promotes the epithelial‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) of renal tubular epithelial cells via the SIRT1‐FoxO1‐FoxO3‐autophagy pathway, thereby resulting in the fibrosis of renal tubular epithelial cells. Activation of SIRT1 or induction of autophagy inhibits this process, alleviating hypoxia‐induced fibrosis.

Renal complications in chronic lymphocytic leukemia and monoclonal B-cell lymphocytosis: the Mayo Clinic experience

open access: yesHaematologica, 2015
While the renal complications of plasma cell dyscrasia have been well-described, most information in patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia and monoclonal B-cell lymphocytosis is derived from case reports. This is a retrospective analysis of patients

Evaluating epoetin dosing strategies using observational longitudinal data [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals of Applied Statistics 2014, Vol. 8, No. 4, 2356-2377, 2015
Epoetin is commonly used to treat anemia in chronic kidney disease and End Stage Renal Disease subjects undergoing dialysis, however, there is considerable uncertainty about what level of hemoglobin or hematocrit should be targeted in these subjects. In order to address this question, we treat epoetin dosing guidelines as a type of dynamic treatment ...
