Coagulopathy in Chronic Subdural Hematoma

open access: yesNeurologia medico-chirurgica, 1991
Coagulation factors were studied in 30 fluids aspirated from 25 patients with chronic subdural hematoma. Compared with the normal range for plasma, the hematoma fluids demonstrated a marked reduction in factors II, V, VII, VIII, and X, moderate reduction of factors IX and XI, and slight reduction of XII. Factor VII and IX inhibitors were not present or

Evidence of Pellagra on 19th Century Human Crania From Northern Italy by Combining Stable Isotope and Paleopathological Analyses

open access: yesInternational Journal of Osteoarchaeology, Volume 35, Issue 2, March/April 2025.
ABSTRACT Pellagra is a disease caused by a nutritional deficiency, with fatal outcome due to multiple‐organ failure, that affected European rural areas until the early decades of the 20th century, especially Veneto region (Italy). At the skeletal level, previous studies pointed out that pathological signs left by the disease are generic and typical of ...

Long‐Term Treatment With Subcutaneous Treprostinil in Patients With Severe Inoperable Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension in the Multimodal Therapy Era (Data From CTREPH Study Open Label Extension)

open access: yesPulmonary Circulation, Volume 15, Issue 2, April 2025.
ABSTRACT The aim of the open label extension (OLE) of CTREPH study was to characterize multimodal treatment in patients with severe inoperable CTEPH, to describe long‐term subcutaneous (SC) treprostinil safety and tolerability, and to evaluate change in functional class and exercise capacity over 24 months since completion of the blinded phase of ...

Organized Subdural Hematoma with Thick Membrane in Chronic Subdural Hematoma

open access: yesJournal of Nepal Medical Association, 2012
Introduction: Chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH) may occasionally contain organized hematoma which can lead to recurrence and other complications after surgery. There is no exact study and data about OHTMF in Nepal so far. The main objective of this study is to study its prevalence and complications. Methods: This is a multicentric retrospective ...

How Much Does It Hurt: A Deep Learning Framework for Chronic Pain Score Assessment [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
Chronic pain is defined as pain that lasts or recurs for more than 3 to 6 months, often long after the injury or illness that initially caused the pain has healed. The "gold standard" for chronic pain assessment remains self report and clinical assessment via a biopsychosocial interview, since there has been no device that can measure it.

Efficacy and Safety of Bilateral Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) for Severe Alzheimer's Disease: A Comparative Analysis of Fornix Versus Basal Ganglia of Meynert

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 31, Issue 4, April 2025.
The graphical abstract illustrates the key findings of a study comparing fornix‐DBS and NBM‐DBS in severe Alzheimer’s disease. It highlights the localization of the fornix (Figure A) and the NBM (Figure C), and the structure of the DBS device (Figure B). The main results are summarized in Figure D, showing that both fornix‐DBS and NBM‐DBS are effective

Robust Unsupervised Transient Detection With Invariant Representation based on the Scattering Network [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
We present a sparse and invariant representation with low asymptotic complexity for robust unsupervised transient and onset zone detection in noisy environments. This unsupervised approach is based on wavelet transforms and leverages the scattering network from Mallat et al. by deriving frequency invariance.
