Annotated list of Cyanoprokaryota from Murmansk Region. I. Chroococcales
Novosti sistematiki nizshikh rastenii, 2009The results of studies of Cyanoprokaryota (Cyanophyta, Cyanobacteria) of the Murmansk Region are presented. The list of Chroococcales contains 78 species, 16 ones being reported as new records for the Murmansk Region, Gloeocapsopsis pleurocapsoides — as a new record for Russia.

The effect of gradient cooling on bloom decline in Microcystis (Cyanophyceae, Chroococcales)
Phycologia, 2016Microcystis blooms occur frequently in many eutrophic lakes during periods of warm temperature and disappear when the temperature becomes lower. Seasonal decreases in water temperature might be a key factor leading to the decline of Microcystis blooms. However, to date, there have been few studies investigating the effects of decreasing temperature on ...

Abstract A species of Synechocystis has been found in association with two ascidian species belonging to the family Didemnidae in the north-western Mediterranean Sea. Structurally, three zones are apparent: In the peripheral layer there is a band of closely joined thylakoids; in the median region of the cells the thylakoids appear swollen and form ...

Planktic cyanoprokaryotes of the order Chroococcales are described from 192 sites in north-eastern Australia. Despite the diversity of freshwater biotopes, and increasing evidence of seasonal cyanoprokaryote dominance in planktic habitats, particularly man made reservoirs, this is the first detailed study documenting the cyanoprokaryote microflora from

Iron starvation increases toxicity of Microcystis aeruginosa CYA 228/1 (Chroococcales, Cyanophyceae)
Phycologia, 1996Abstract Toxin production and growth during iron starvation was studied in the toxic strain Microcystis aeruginosa (Kutzing) Lemmermann CYA 228/1 and the non-toxic strain M. aeruginosa CYA 143, using continuous culture. Iron starvation resulted in a 5-fold decrease in chlorophyll a content and a 3-fold decrease in the protein content in both organisms ...

Abstract Morphology of the nucleoid in the halobiotic, planktic cyanophyte Cyanothece halobia Roussomoustakaki et Anagnostidis was investigated. DAPI fluorescence staining revealed that nucleoid morphology strongly resembles that of Cyanothece aeruginosa (Nageli) Komarek.
