A Near Telomere‐to‐Telomere Genome of Belamcanda chinensis Provides Insights Into Genome Evolution and the Biosynthesis of Characteristic Isoflavones

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Belamcanda chinensis is a non‐leguminous medicinal plant rich in bioactive isoflavones; however, the lack of a high‐quality reference genome has limited elucidation of its isoflavone biosynthetic and modification network. Here, we present the first near telomere‐to‐telomere genome assembly of B.

Carotenoid pigments in chum salmon - II. Behavior of carotenoids in the chum salmon Oncorhynchus keta during development.

open access: yesNIPPON SUISAN GAKKAISHI, 1984
As part of the historical study of carotenoids in the chum salmon, the behavior of carotenoids was investigated duing development. The carotenoids which were stored in the eggs during the anadromous migration period, stayed in a constant quantitative (0.677-0.687mg/100g) and compostion ratio, with a 76-80% astaxabthin rate, until hatching.

Purification of gonadotropin from chum salmon pituitary glands.

open access: yesNIPPON SUISAN GAKKAISHI, 1976
Purification of chum salmon gonadotropin was attempted. The pituitary glands of chum salmon were extracted with 40% ethanol. Ethanol was added to the extract to give a final 85% solution. The resulting precipitate was collected by centrifugation and dried with acetone.

Beaver dam analogues increase amphibian breeding occupancy and bat activity

open access: yesRestoration Ecology, EarlyView.
Abstract Introduction Beavers are ecosystem engineers that can create ponds, increase stream complexity, and enhance biodiversity. To mimic these and other effects, restoration practitioners increasingly install beaver dam analogues (BDAs) in degraded streams.

Inhibition of Listeria in cold-smoked salmon using liquid smoke and isoeugenol [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Thesis (M.S.) University of Alaska Fairbanks, 2000Listeria monocytogenes is a foodborne pathogen, ubiquitous in nature and sometimes found in seafood. Cold-smoked salmon products have few barriers to inhibit pathogen growth.
