Influence of Piston Number on Churning Losses in Axial Piston Pumps
Raising the rotational speed of an axial piston pump is useful for improving its power density; however, the churning losses of the piston increase significantly with increasing speed, and this reduces the performance and efficiency of the axial piston ...

A model formulation for the prediction of churning power loss in worm gear transmission
Churning power loss is a complex process that causes significant loss of energy under splash lubrication of gear units. A set of empirical equations are available that allows for precise churning power losses calculation for only the parallel axis gears.

Experimental Investigation on Churning Power Loss of Splash Lubricated Worm Gear
Churning power losses are a complex phenomenon that produces critical power losses when considering the splash lubrication of gear units. This article describes the method to investigate the churning power loss in a worm gearbox. A particular test rig was designed and fabricated to experiment on single start worm gear incompletely submerged in an oil ...

An Experimental Investigation of Churning Power Losses of a Gearbox
In this study, load-independent (spin) power losses of a gearbox operating under dip-lubrication conditions are investigated experimentally using a final-drive helical gear pair from an automotive transmission as the example system. A dedicated gearbox is developed to operate a single gear or a gear pair under given speed and temperature conditions.

Development of an analytical model to predict the churning power losses of an orthogonal face gear
As one of the basic energy dissipations for one orthogonal face gear running partially submerged in an oil bath, there is no open literature concerned on the churning power losses of the face gear. This paper proposed a series of formulas to predict the churning losses for one orthogonal face gear running partially submerged in an oil bath.
