‘Candidatus Phytoplasma solani’: From infection to all‐round characterisation of distinct tuf‐type strains with different virulence in tomato plants

open access: yesAnnals of Applied Biology, Volume 188, Issue 2, Page 480-494, March 2026.
‘Candidatus Phytoplasma (Ca. P.) solani’ is associated with bois noir (BN) of grapevine and stolbur of solanaceous plants and is primarily transmitted by Hyalesthes obsoletus Signoret. Four tuf‐a and five tuf‐b1 ‘Ca. P. solani’ strains were transmitted to tomato plants (cv. Micro‐Tom) by using bait‐plants and by capturing H.

Wolfniana gen. n. and redescription of Wolfniana limbatula (Osborn, 1926) comb. n. (Hemiptera, Auchenorr hyncha, Cicadellidae)

open access: yes, 2000
Wolfniana gen.n. is proposed to include Cicadella limbatula Osborn, 1926. This species has a head that is more produced than in species of Rotigonalia Young, 1977 and the paraphyses are not V-shaped as in R.

Dominated Spider Species and the Predation Assessment on Apolygus lucorum (Hemiptera: Miridae) in a Tea Plantation

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 2, February 2026.
The mirid bug Apolygus lucorum (Meyer‐Dür) is a major pest affecting tea. Identifying the dominant predatory spiders of the mirid bug can provide a scientific basis for developing biological control technologies. Xysticus ephippiatus demonstrates the greatest potential as a biological control agent against A. lucorum.

A Regional DNA Barcode Library for Northern Rocky Mountain Arthropods to Support Biodiversity and Molecular Ecological Research

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 2, February 2026.
We developed the MPG Ranch Arthropod Library (MPG‐AL), a COI DNA barcode reference library for arthropods of the Northern Rocky Mountains, to address gaps in barcode coverage for the western United States. From 86,533 specimens collected in Montana, we generated 52,270 DNA barcodes spanning 38 orders and 1793 species, adding 5154 Barcode Index Numbers (
