Expressing reliability with CIDOC CRM
International Journal on Digital Libraries, 2016The paper addresses the issue of documenting and communicating the reliability of evidence interpretation in archaeology and, in general, in heritage science. It is proposed to express reliability with fuzzy logic, and model it using an extension of CIDOC CRM classes and properties. This proposed extension is compared with other CRM extensions.

The MPEG-7 is the dominant standard for multimedia content description; thus, the audiovisual Digital Library contents should be described in terms of MPEG-7. Since there exists a huge amount of audiovisual content in the cultural heritage domain, it is expected that several cultural heritage objects, as well as entities related with them (i.e. people,

Mapping Encoded Archival Description to CIDOC CRM [PDF]
In this paper we analyze the semantics of the archival description, expressed through the Encoded Archival Description. Through this analysis it is concluded that an EAD document is a hierarchy of documentation elements and attributes and that through this documentation the archive is semantically expressed through three di erent hierarchies (hierarchy

The processing of heterogeneous data is needed in a distributed data-integrating environment. Based on the normal functions of the web services, this paper proposes a feasible way that annotates the meaning of the data received from a web service by the semantic annotation for integrating digital information.

Modeling and querying provenance by extending CIDOC CRM
Distributed and Parallel Databases, 2010This paper elaborates on the problem of modeling provenance for both physical and digital objects. In particular it discusses provenance according to OAIS (ISO 14721:2003) and how it relates with the conceptualization of CIDOC CRM ontology (ISO 21127:2006).

CIDOC CRM in Action – Experiences and Challenges
2007Integration of metadata from heterogeneous sources is a major issue when connecting cultural institutions to digital library networks. Uniform access to metadata is impeded by the structural and semantic heterogeneities of the metadata and metadata schemes used in the source systems.

Automatic Generation of Crosswalks through CIDOC CRM
2012In this paper, we propose an algorithm that automatically generates crosswalks between metadata schemas. The algorithm exploits the mappings between the schemas and the CIDOC Conceptual Reference Model (CRM), defined as part of an ontology-based integration architecture proposed by our research team.

A CIDOC CRM-based Model for the Documentation of Heritage Sciences
2018 3rd Digital Heritage International Congress (DigitalHERITAGE) held jointly with 2018 24th International Conference on Virtual Systems & Multimedia (VSMM 2018), 2018The paper describes an approach to the documentation of scientific data produced in heritage sciences interdisciplinary research. Since such activities fall within the scope of a scientific discipline (e.g. physics or chemistry) and of cultural heritage, the documentation system must draw from both. The paper proposes an overarching system based on the

Application of CIDOC-CRM for the Russian Heritage Cloud Platform
2015This paper describes the usage of CIDOC-CRM ontology for the online representation of cultural heritage data on, based on class templates; and also describes the motivation for choosing the CIDOC-CRM ontology as the basis for the Russian Heritage Cloud project, a recent collaboration started between ITMO University and a number of museums in Russia.
