New Reflections on Gravitational Duality
In general terms duality consists of two descriptions of one physical system by using degrees of freedom of different nature. There are different kinds of dualities and they have been extremely useful to uncover the underlying strong coupling dynamics of

Implementation of a Controller to Eliminate the Limit Cycle in the Inverted Pendulum on a Cart
A frequency response‐based linear controller is implemented to regulate the inverted pendulum on a cart at the inverted position. The objective is to improve the performance of the control system by eliminating the limit cycle generated by the dead‐zone, induced by static friction, at the actuator of the mechanism.

Integrating Frequency Setting, Timetabling, and Route Assignment to Synchronize Transit Lines
Synchronization of different transit lines is an important activity to increase the level of service in transportation systems. In particular, for passengers, transferring from one line to another, there may be low‐frequency periods and transfer zones where walking is needed, or passengers are exposed to adverse weather conditions and uncomfortable ...

Optimizing a Biobjective Production‐Distribution Planning Problem Using a GRASP
This paper addresses a biobjective production‐distribution planning problem. The problem is formulated as a mixed integer programming problem with two objectives. The objectives are to minimize the total costs and to balance the total workload of the supply chain, which consist of plants and depots, considering that it represents a company vertically ...

During the design of nonimaging Fresnel lenses, the reflectance losses at the refracting surfaces should be taken into account because, depending on the parameters of each prism, semiacceptance angle θin and output angle θout, these losses can decrease the total efficiency of the lens.

Quantum Cosmology of Quadratic f(R) Theories with a FRW Metric
We study the quantum cosmology of a quadratic f(R) theory with a FRW metric, via one of its equivalent Horndeski type actions, where the dynamic of the scalar field is induced. The classical equations of motion and the Wheeler‐DeWitt equation, in their exact versions, are solved numerically.

We address a logistics districting problem faced by a parcel company whose operations consist of picking up and delivering packages over a service region. The districting process aims to find a partition of the service region into delivery and collection zones that may be served by a single vehicle that departs from a central depot.

The trajectory tracking task in a wheeled mobile robot (WMR) is solved by proposing a three‐level hierarchical controller that considers the mathematical model of the mechanical structure (differential drive WMR), actuators (DC motors), and power stage (DC/DC Buck power converters).
