Modulation of endothelin-1-induced contractions by magnesium/calcium in porcine ciliary arteries [PDF]
• Background: The present study was performed to investigate the influence of extracellular magnesium on changes in contractile tone induced by endothelin-1, and on relaxations to bradykinin in isolated porcine ciliary arteries.

Therapeutic Gases in Biomedicine: Updates on Nitric Oxide and Beyond
Therapeutic gases, including NO, CO, H2S, H2, CO2, O2, and Xe, play vital roles in cellular signaling and repair. This review highlights the emerging carriers and delivery systems that enable controlled, localized gas release for diagnostic and therapeutic applications.

NPHP4 Variants Are Associated With Pleiotropic Heart Malformations [PDF]
Rationale: Congenital heart malformations are a major cause of morbidity and mortality, especially in young children. Failure to establish normal left-right (L-R) asymmetry often results in cardiovascular malformations and other laterality defects of ...

Glaucoma, a major cause of blindness, involves retinal ganglion cell (RGC) degeneration. This study shows growth hormone‐releasing hormone receptor (GHRHR) deficiency preserves RGC survival and restores vision, unlike activation which only aids survival.

Effects of brinzolamide on rabbit ocular blood flow in vivo and ex vivo [PDF]
AIM: To investigate if significant improvement of optic disc blood flow (ODBF) occurs after instillation of brinzolamide onto rabbit eyes. METHODS: Testing of bilateral intraocular pressure (IOP) and left ODBF in 10 male rabbits took place every 3h over

Unexplained recurrent implantation failure (RIF) represents a significant clinical challenge. Our results demonstrate that reduced lactate production in the RIF endometrium impairs the suppression of cytotoxic CD8+ T‑cells, allowing their proliferation and thereby disrupting the local immune balance essential for successful embryo implantation.

Cryocautery and Aqueous Humor Dynamics [PDF]
A method of cyclocryocautery, using the Kelman Cryostylet, is described. On rabbit eyes this brings about a statistically significant lowering of intraocular pressure and reduction of aqueous flow over an observation period of three months.

Graded potential of neural crest to form cornea, sensory neurons and cartilage along the rostrocaudal axis [PDF]
Neural crest cells arising from different rostrocaudal axial levels form different sets of derivatives as diverse as ganglia, cartilage and cornea. These variations may be due to intrinsic properties of the cell populations, different environmental ...

Understanding the spacing of placodes in the eye: A comparative study across age and species
Abstract The conjunctival placodes of the avian eye form in an intriguing and conserved sequence in a circular annulus around the cornea. These 13–16 placodes develop into papillae that are essential for inducing underlying intramembranous flat bones, known as scleral ossicles, which form an important part of the ocular skeleton.
