Is there competition among ciliates and nematodes?
Bergtold M, Gunther V, Traunspurger W. Is there competition among ciliates and nematodes? FRESHWATER BIOLOGY. 2005;50(8):1351-1359.1. Biotic interaction between the ciliate Cyclidium glaucoma and the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans was investigated by ...

Objective Both susceptibility to, and severity of, rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is associated with the rs26232 C allele. Our primary aim was to identify the biologic mechanism underlying this association. Methods Expression of surrounding genes was compared among rs26232 genotypes.

Objective Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) often involves extra‐articular complications, including interstitial lung disease (ILD) and/or pulmonary nodules. Transcriptomic profiling of lung tissue provides the opportunity to directly assess cell‐specific gene expression and corresponding pathway activation in different types of rheumatoid lung disease ...

Species Diversity of Planktonic Ciliates (Ciliophora: Oligotrichia)
Planktonic ciliates, especially choreotrichs and oligotrichs, occur in high numbers and constitute a diverse group in the marine plankton communities. Globally, many studies have shown that planktonic ciliates have been recognized as one of the important

Abstract Aim Mebendazole (MBZ), a benzimidazole anthelmintic with established clinical use, has emerged as a repurposing candidate for primary brain tumours due to its multimodal anticancer actions and central nervous system penetrance. This systematic review synthesizes preclinical and clinical evidence evaluating MBZ's efficacy, mechanisms of action ...

Sessile Ciliates (Ciliophora) from Extreme Habitats
Статья представляет собой обзор различных типов экстремальных местообитаний, в которых были найдены сидячие инфузории. Основное внимание в работе уделено местообитаниям, из которых были получены оригинальные материалы: гипергалинным водоемам ...

ABSTRACT Post‐translational modifications (PTMs) to tubulin subunits in microtubule filaments are thought to comprise a component of the tubulin code that specifies microtubule functions in cell physiology and animal development. Acetylation of Lysine‐40 (K40) on α‐tubulin (αTub‐K40ac) and glutamylation of both α‐ and β‐tubulin are two tubulin PTMs of ...

Ciliates contain two types of nuclei: a micronucleus and a macronucleus. The micronucleus serves as the germ line nucleus but does not express its genes. The macronucleus provides the nuclear RNA for vegetative growth. Mating cells exchange haploid micronuclei, and a new macronucleus develops from a new diploid micronucleus.
