Nonconventional Techniques in Plant Alkaloid Extraction: A Decade of Progress (2014–2023)

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, Volume 22, Issue 8, August 2025.
This figure seeks to represent the evolution of the different unconventional approaches that were adopted for the extraction of plant‐derived alkaloids during the decade from 2014 to 2023. ABSTRACT Plant metabolism encompasses primary and secondary pathways, with secondary metabolism yielding diverse natural products crucial for plant adaptation and ...

Application of Molecular Dynamic Simulation in the Enantiorecognition Mechanism of the Pharmaceutically Relevant Leu‐Phe Dipeptides With Four Zwitterionic Chiral Stationary Phases

open access: yesJournal of Separation Science, Volume 48, Issue 7, July 2025.
ABSTRACT In order to broaden the applicability of the molecular dynamics technique and to further validate the efficacy of a computational protocol recently developed in our laboratory, the present study aims to elucidate the enantiorecognition mechanisms involving four zwitterionic Cinchona alkaloid‐based CSPs under reversed‐phase (RP) conditions.

Synthesis, Antibacterial and Anticancer Activity of New Quinolone Phenylhydrazone Hybrids

open access: yesChemistrySelect, Volume 10, Issue 27, July 18, 2025.
Through the hybridization of quinolone and phenylhydrazone moieties, a series of new quinolone phenylhydrazone hybrid compounds was synthesized by simple nucleophilic addition. Following structural elucidation, the antibacterial and anticancer activity of the compounds was then evaluated.

Vanishing Frontiers: a Javanese Plantation Emplacement, 1870s – 2000s [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The introduction of the Agrarian Law of 1870 led hundreds of would-be Dutch planters to try their luck in the plantation business. Soon, dots of settlements where coolies from lowlands were housed emerged on the island map.

The prevalence of Phytophthora in British plant nurseries; high‐risk hosts and substrates and opportunities to implement best practice

open access: yesPlant Pathology, Volume 74, Issue 3, Page 696-717, April 2025.
DNA metabarcoding of root and water samples collected from 132 British plant nurseries over 7 years reveals the prevalence of Phytophthora pathogens, their niche preferences and high‐risk hosts and management practices. Abstract Invasive Phytophthora species infect a very broad range of herbaceous and woody hosts globally.

An Ultrahigh Affinity DNA Aptamer for Quinine and Its Intrinsic Fluorescence Based Label‐Free Detection

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 31, Issue 1, January 2, 2025.
An ultrahigh affinity DNA aptamer for quinine was obtained using capture‐SELEX, and it did not bind to cocaine. In comparison to the prior MN4 aptamer, the new aptamer has 70‐fold better affinity with a different way of binding to quinine. Abstract Measuring quinine is critical for the detection of its overdose, understanding its pharmacological and ...
