Two new species of the tribe Synanthedonini (Lepidoptera, Sesiidae), with new hostplant associations from Taiwan [PDF]
Two new species of the tribe Synanthedonini are described from Taiwan: Synanthedon auritinctaoidis sp. nov. and Paranthrenella helvola sp. nov. Diagnostic characters for the two species are presented using body color, wing pattern, and genitalia.

Lignans from the Stem of Cinnamomum camphora [PDF]
(+)-Diasesamin (1), (+)-sesamin (2), (+)-episesamin, stearic acid, palmitic acid, a mixture of β-sitosterol and stigmasterol, and a mixture of β-sitosterol-D-glucoside and stigmasterol-D-glucoside were isolated from the stems of Cinnamomum camphora (L.) Presl.. Among these compounds, 1 is obtained for the first time from a natural source.

ABSTRACT During the COVID‐19 pandemic, global demand for ravintsara (Cinnamomum camphora ct 1,8‐cineole), an introduced yet naturalized medicinal tree, surged due to its reputed antiviral properties. In Madagascar's highlands, informal distillers (mpitanika ravina) became essential workers, producing ravintsara essential oil around the clock with ...

The volatile profile of Betula papyrifera hardwood has been characterized using both hydrodistillation and HS‐SPME coupled with GC‐MS/FID. Hydrodistillation yields a fatty acid‐rich essential oil, while HS‐SPME reveals a broader range of low‐molecular‐weight volatiles, including aromatics and terpenoids.

Abstract Large old trees are important ecological entities in human settlements, providing cultural values and ecological services that are threatened by current and future changes in global climate, land use and disturbance regimes. Some studies suggest incorporating social and cultural significance into the conservation of large old trees.

The Role of Rock Fractures as a Water Source for Trees Growing in Karst
Abstract Global warming has led to accelerated transitions between dry and wet periods, causing plants to experience more water stress and adapt water use strategies. This could have a significant impact on plants in karst regions due to the substantial spatial and temporal variability of soil and rock moisture. In this study, we monitored and compared

Chemical Constituents of the Essential Oils of Cinnamomum sinrok, Blume [PDF]
The leaf, bark and wood oils of Cinnamomum sintok were isolated in 0.87, 1.63 and 0.29% yields, respectively, by water distillation. The components of the oils were identified by co-chromatography with authentic samples on two different capillary columns,
