Glucocorticoids and HPA axis regulation in the stress–obesity connection: A comprehensive overview of biological, physiological and behavioural dimensions

open access: yesClinical Obesity, Volume 15, Issue 2, April 2025.
Summary Chronic stress, characterized by increased long‐term exposure to the glucocorticoid hormone cortisol, is increasingly linked to obesity development. Still, various knowledge gaps persist, including on underlying pathophysiological mechanisms. The aim of the current review is to provide the latest insights on the connection between stress and ...

Tryptophan Suppresses FTH1‐Driven Ferritinophagy, a Key Correlate of Prognosis in Hepatocellular Carcinoma

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
Intracellular tryptophan levels modulate selective autophagy of FTH1 via the NCOA4 pathway. This autophagic process then inhibits 6‐HMT synthesis, which then results in an increase in reactive oxygen species and ferroptosis. ABSTRACT Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remains a lethal malignancy with limited therapeutic options.

Solar radiation determines host choice, larval feeding and survival throughout the life cycle of an endangered open forest butterfly

open access: yesConservation Science and Practice, EarlyView.
Open forest butterfly species have been declining rapidly in Central Europe, but the reasons for their decline are not yet fully understood. Using the Southern White Admiral (Limenitis reducta) as a model species, we showed that solar radiation plays a key role throughout the species' life cycle, in particular for larval survival.

Developments in albuminuria testing: A key biomarker for detection, prognosis and surveillance of kidney and cardiovascular disease—A practical update for clinicians

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, EarlyView.
Abstract Albuminuria, the abnormal presence of albumin in urine, is a key marker of kidney damage and a strong predictor of kidney and cardiovascular outcomes. Its clinical significance has evolved from early historical observations to its current role in chronic kidney disease (CKD) detection, risk stratification and treatment monitoring.

Glycaemic impact of the pre‐exercise timing of an elevated glucose target implemented using an automated insulin delivery system in adults with type 1 diabetes

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, EarlyView.
Abstract Aim To determine the impact of a temporary elevated glucose target (TT) on hypoglycaemia and glycaemic outcomes with exercise in adults with type 1 diabetes using an automated insulin delivery (AID) system. Materials and Methods Twenty‐six participants using the Medtronic MiniMed™ 780G system performed 16 exercise bouts: 12 afternoon bouts ...
