Nanobody‐Decorated Lipid Nanoparticles for Enhanced mRNA Delivery to Tumors In Vivo

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a targeted mRNA‐LNP platform engineered with anti‐PSMA nanobodies for prostate cancer therapy. Using different in vivo models, the authors demonstrate selective uptake and mRNA delivery in PSMA+ cancer cells. However, while targeting is enhanced, mRNA delivery efficacy is limited by tissue penetration, tumor necrosis, and immune ...

Research advances in the study of sleep disorders, circadian rhythm disturbances and Alzheimer’s disease

open access: yesFrontiers in Aging Neuroscience, 2022
Although there are still no satisfactory answers to the question of why we need to sleep, a better understanding of its function will help to improve societal attitudes toward sleep. Sleep disorders are very common in neurodegenerative diseases and are a

Dual‐Selective Terahertz‐Nanodisc Metasurfaces for Exploring Neurotransmitter Dynamics beyond Spectral Limitations

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Observation and detection of neurotransmitter dynamics in aqueous system has been hurdle for analytical fields due to its weak and reversible nature. A terahertz‐nanodisc metasurface which implements comprehensive detection over conformational change and selective sensing is introduced. Utilizing the THz regime photonics and biomimetic environment with

Comparative Review of Approved Melatonin Agonists for the Treatment of Circadian Rhythm Sleep‐Wake Disorders

open access: yesPharmacotherapy, 2016
Circadian rhythm sleep‐wake disorders (CRSWDs) are characterized by persistent or recurrent patterns of sleep disturbance related primarily to alterations of the circadian rhythm system or the misalignment between the endogenous circadian rhythm and ...

Non-24-Hour Sleep-Wake Disorder Revisited – A Case Study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The human sleep-wake cycle is governed by two major factors: a homeostatic hourglass process (process S), which rises linearly during the day, and a circadian process C, which determines the timing of sleep in a ~24-h rhythm in accordance to the external

Bilirubin Targeting WNK1 to Alleviate NLRP3‐Mediated Neuroinflammation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
At physiological concentrations, bilirubin binds to the kinase domain of WNK1, thereby augmenting its activity and facilitating the phosphorylation of downstream SPAK/OSR1. This phosphorylation inhibits KCC2 activity, leading to elevate intracellular chloride levels in neurons.

Adaptive mechanisms of homeostasis disorders

open access: yesJournal of Education, Health and Sport, 2017
The ability to preserve a permanent level of internal environment in a human organism, against internal and external factors, which could breach the consistency, can be define as homeostasis.

Bright Light Therapy in Parkinson's Disease: An Overview of the Background and Evidence

open access: yesParkinson's Disease, 2012
Sleep disorders are common in Parkinson's disease (PD) and seem to be strongly associated with depression. It has been suggested that sleep disorders as well as depression are caused by a disturbed circadian rhythm.

Circadian Rhythm Dysregulation and Restoration: The Role of Melatonin

open access: yesNutrients, 2021
Sleep is an essential component of overall human health but is so tightly regulated that when disrupted can cause or worsen certain ailments. An important part of this process is the presence of the well-known hormone, melatonin. This compound assists in
