Genetic diversity of pigeon circovirus in Hungary
Virus Genes, 2011Pigeon circoviruses (PiCV) had been identified worldwide and are responsible for immune suppression and a variety of diseases collectively referred to as young pigeon disease syndrome. Samples from racing pigeons were collected throughout Hungary and analyzed for the presence of PiCV by polymerase chain reaction.

Cloning and sequencing of Duck circovirus (DuCV)
Archives of Virology, 2003The genome of Duck circovirus (DuCV) is circular and 1996 nts in size. Two major open reading frames were identified, encoding the replicase (V1) and the capsid protein (C1). A stem-loop structure comprising the nonamer 5'-TATTATTAC, conserved in all circo-, nano- and geminiviruses, was found.

Developments in biologicals, 2006
In the 1990s Post-weaning, multi-systemic wasting syndrome (PMWS) emerged in N. America and Europe as a major disease problem with significant welfare and economic consequences for pig producers. The disease, characterised by wasting, respiratory, enteric and lymphoid system problems in pigs of 4-16 weeks of age, has since spread so that today it has a

Shedding of Porcine Circovirus into Colostrum of Sows
Journal of Veterinary Medicine, Series B, 2006SummaryThe purpose of the present study was to investigate porcine circovirus (PCV) shedding into the milk of sows. Colostrum was collected from 33 sows. PCV1 was isolated from four of 33 milk whey samples. PCV1 DNA was detected by polymerase chain reaction in three of these samples and in three of 10 milk cell samples.

Transcription Analysis of Porcine Circovirus (PCV)
Virus Genes, 1998This study focuses on gene expression of porcine circovirus (PCV) in order to identify viral genes and their corresponding mRNA transcripts. By northern blot analysis, the existence of three mRNAs could be demonstrated. Two mRNAs are encoded by the viral (-)-strand and one is encoded by the viral (+)-strand.

New data on the transmission of pigeon circovirus
Veterinary Record, 2005Nineteen racing pigeons aged from one to five years were examined postmortem. pcr tests showed that the spleens of 16 of them were positive for pigeon circovirus, the livers of six were positive, and blood from one of them was positive for the virus. Five of 44 embryos in embryonated eggs collected from three lofts were positive by pcr, but swabs taken

[Circovirus infections in pigeons].
Tierarztliche Praxis, 1997The first detection of circovirus infection in pigeons in Germany is described. The existing experiences with this still little known pigeon disease are summarized and similarities to circovirus infections in other species are shown.
