Porcine circovirus: Transcription and DNA replication

open access: yesVirus Research, 2012
This review summarizes the molecular studies pertaining to porcine circovirus (PCV) transcription and DNA replication. The genome of PCV is circular, single-stranded DNA and contains 1759-1768 nucleotides. Both the genome-strand (packaged in the virus particle) and the complementary-strand (synthesized in the new host) encode viral proteins.

Porcine Circovirus (PCV) in pigs

open access: yes, 2023
In India, pig farming is one of the most viable and lucrative animal industries, and the pork sector plays a significant role in ensuring food security. Pig diseases are frequently complicated and can result in multifactorial situations, particularly when they are respiratory illnesses brought on by the porcine circovirus.

Use of a Novel Enhanced DNA Vaccine Vector for Preclinical Virus Vaccine Investigation

open access: yesVaccines, 2019
DNA vaccines are stable, safe, and cost effective to produce and relatively quick and easy to manufacture. However, to date, DNA vaccines have shown relatively poor immunogenicity in humans despite promising preclinical results. Consequently, a number of

Immunology of porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2)

open access: yesVirus Research, 2012
The emergence of porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) associated diseases and particularly postweaning multisystemic wasting syndrome (PMWS) was a shock for the swine industry and formulated a considerable challenge for researchers in the area of viral immunology in swine. The unique features of PMWS of which emaciation and lymphoid depletion were the most

First detection of two cycloviruses in cormorant fecal samples in China by high-throughput sequencing technology

open access: yesFrontiers in Veterinary Science
IntroductionThe Great Cormorant (Phalacrocorax carbo) is widely distributed across China. As an apex predator in aquatic ecosystems, it plays a tripartite ecological role: acting as a natural host, transmission vector, and indicator species for viruses ...

Sensitive and Specific TaqMan Real-Time PCR Assay for Beak and Feather Disease Virus in Psittacine Birds

open access: yesVeterinary Sciences
Beak and feather disease virus (BFDV) is a small, icosahedral, non-enveloped virus with a circular single-stranded DNA genome, that belongs to the Circoviridae family. BFDV is globally distributed and poses a major threat to susceptible avian populations.
