Mechanical Condition Identification and Prediction of Spring Operating Mechanism of High Voltage Circuit Breaker

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Spring operation mechanism is widely used in high voltage circuit breakers, and its reliability is related to the ability of the circuit breaker breaking fault current. During the life cycle of spring operating mechanism, stress relaxation, metal fatigue,

Optically Bound Rapid Plasmonic Nanorod Dimers: Anisotropic Dynamics Driven by Light‐Fluidic Cooperation

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
Optically confined gold nanorods exhibit cooperative light‐driven dynamics, forming mobile end‐to‐end dimers with orientation‐dependent propulsion. Using structured laser traps and an opto‐thermo‐hydrodynamic model, we uncover how optical binding, polarization‐induced torque, and near‐surface hydrodynamics govern their motion.

Mixed‐methods systematic review exploring the associations underpinning active outdoor play with connection to nature and environmental stewardship

open access: yesPeople and Nature, EarlyView.
Abstract Active outdoor play has been positioned in the literature as an opportunity to address concerns over climate (in)action and the rising trend of disconnection from the outdoors and nature. The objective of this systematic review was to examine associations between active outdoor play and people's connection to nature and/or environmental ...

What's there beyond the sun and the sea? Detecting tourists' interest towards nature in a mass tourism destination using social media data

open access: yesPeople and Nature, EarlyView.
Abstract Nature‐based tourism is a rapidly growing subsector of the international tourism industry. However, capturing broad‐scale patterns of nature visits during touristic trips or visitors' appreciation of nature may be difficult using traditional data sources and methods. In this study, we harness geotagged social media data to understand the scale

China Suspends Circuit Breakers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Circuit breakers are designed to slow down (or even halt) panicked selling. However, Chinese authorities recently suspended their newly implemented circuit breakers, as they seemed to be increasing panic (as opposed to reducing it).
