Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

Analog circuit design knowledge mining and circuit causal information modeling

open access: yes, 2016
This thesis proposes novel approaches for analog circuit design knowledge mining and circuit causal information modeling. In particular, knowledge mining discovers and decomposes analog circuit design knowledge into three components: (1) a conceptual ...

DNA‐Templated 2D Heterostructures as Phototriggered Dynamic Nanohybrids: From Releasing Molecular Loads to Controlling Enzyme Biocatalytic Function

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
DNA strands are employed both as dynamic linkers and nanoscale templates for the integration of Ag2S nanoparticles on MoS2, which in turn imparted photothermal responsiveness; this feature permits the selective cargo (fluorophore, quantum dots or an enzyme) release from the MoS2 surface in response to local heat induced by light irradiation.

Enactive Modeling as a Catalyst for Conceptual Understanding: An Example with a Circuit Simulation

open access: yes, 2006
This research explored how allowing students to actively control an electrical circuit simulation in real-time helps them better understand the complex behavior of electrical circuits.

Optoelectronic Synaptic Devices Using Molecular Telluride Phase‐Change Inks for Three‐Factor Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Optoelectronic synaptic devices based on solution‐processed molecular telluride GST‐225 phase‐change inks are demonstrated for three‐factor learning. A global optical signal broadcast through a silicon waveguide induces non‐volatile conductance updates exclusively in locally electrically flagged memristors.

Narcolepsy: immunity, neural circuitry, and brain network reconfiguration

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology
IntroductionNarcolepsy is a rare sleep disorder characterized by cataplexy and excessive daytime sleepiness. The hallmark neuropathological feature is the selective loss of hypothalamic hypocretin (HCRT) neurons. This review systematically summarizes the

Self‐Sintering Ionogel Binder for Flexible, Recyclable, and Healable Printed Giant Magnetoresistive Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Electronic waste has emerged as a major environmental challenge, driven by the massive consumption and a limited lifetime of modern electronic devices, stimulating the development of sustainable electronics. Here, an all‐biomaterial gelatin‐choline‐citric acid ([Ch][CA]) ionogel is developed as an active binder to realize self‐sintered ...

Qubit state tomography in superconducting circuit via weak measurements

open access: yes, 2016
The standard method of "measuring" quantum wavefunction is the technique of {\it indirect} quantum state tomography. Owing to conceptual novelty and possible advantages, an alternative {\it direct} scheme was proposed and demonstrated recently in quantum
