Effects of Elastic Foundation on the Vibration of Laminated Non-Homogeneous Orthotropic Circular Cylindrical Shells

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2004
In this paper an analytical procedure is given to study the free vibration characteristics of laminated non-homogeneous orthotropic thin circular cylindrical shells resting on elastic foundation, accounting for Karman type geometric non-linearity.

A method to solve stability problem of nonlinear cylindrical shell under transversal load

open access: yesVietnam Journal of Mechanics, 1996
The stability problem of the cylindrical shell was studied by many researches, but most of those shells were circular. The present article considers a method to determine the critical load of noncircular cylindrical shell with the open or close section.

Steady-State Creep of Circular Cylindrical Shells

open access: yesBulletin of JSME, 1970
Steady-state creep of simply supported circular cylindrical shells with open ends under internal pressure is analysed numerically by the extended Newton method combined with the method of finite-difference. Creep theory of Mises type and power creep law are assumed. Numerical calculation is carried out for long and short shells with creep exponents n=1

Mixed‐Metal Promotion in a Manganese‐Molybdenum Oxynitride as Catalyst to Integrate C─C and C─N Coupling Reactions for the Direct Synthesis of Acetonitrile from Syngas and Ammonia

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Transition metal oxy/carbo‐nitrides show great promise as catalysts for sustainable processes. A Mn‐Mo mixed‐metal oxynitride attains remarkable performance for the direct synthesis of acetonitrile, an important commodity chemical, via sequential C─N and C─C coupling from syngas (C1) and ammonia (N1) feedstocks.

Free vibration frequencies of prismatic thin shells [PDF]

open access: yesИзвестия Саратовского университета. Новая серия: Математика. Механика. Информатика
The paper examines the natural frequencies of prismatic thin shells, the cross-section of which is the regular polygon. Spectra of free vibration frequencies of such shells are analyzed as the number of cross-section sides increases, provided that the ...

Free vibration of an oblique circular cylindrical shell

open access: yesThe Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1985
An analysis is presented for the free vibration of an oblique circular cylindrical shell. For this purpose, the shell is transformed into a circular cylindrical shell of unit axial length by a transformation of variables. The deflection displacements of the transformed shell are expressed in a series of the products of the eigenfunctions of an axial ...

Topology and Material Optimization in Ultra‐Soft Magneto‐Active Structures: Making Advantage of Residual Anisotropies

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Residual magnetization induces pronounced mechanical anisotropy in ultra‐soft magnetorheological elastomers, shaping deformation and actuation even without external magnetic fields. This study introduces a computational‐experimental framework integrating magneto‐mechanical coupling into topology optimization for designing soft magnetic actuators with ...

Free vibration analysis of open circular cylindrical shells by the method of reverberation-ray matrix

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2016
This article is concerned with free vibration analysis of open circular cylindrical shells with either the two straight edges or the two curved edges simply supported and the remaining two edges supported by arbitrary classical boundary conditions.
