Linear Dichroism and Circular Dichroism
2010This book provides an introduction to optical anisotropy (linear dichroism, LD) and optical activity (circular dichroism, CD) as techniques for the study of structures and interactions of molecules in solution. The book covers the use of these techniques for both small and large molecular systems with particular emphasis being placed on proteins and ...

Circular Dichroism and Linear Dichroism
1997Abstract This book provides an introduction to all those who wish to use the complementary spectroscopic techniques of optical activity (circular dichroism, CD) and optical anisotropy (linear dichroism, LD) for the study of the structure of molecules and interactions between molecules in solution.

Magnetic Circular Dichroism Spectroscopy
2011Being able to probe the structure and energy levels of metal ions in biological systems is an important goal of bioinorganic scientists. Several of the techniques used rely on the paramagnetic property of certain oxidation states of metal ions. MCD spectroscopy is one of those techniques and represents an effective way of obtaining structure/electronic

Magnetic optical activity (MOA) is induced in all matter by a longitudinal magnetic field. Magnetic optical rotation (MOR, the Faraday effect) and mag netic circular dichroism (MCD) arise respectively from the difference in refrac tive indices and absorption coefficients of left and right circularly polarized (CP) light due to the applied magnetic ...

Magnetic circular dichroism and circular dichroism of some nucleosides.
Nucleic acids symposium series, 1981The magnetic circular dichroism and circular dichroism spectra of cytidine, isocytidine, 2,5'-O-cyclo-2',3'-O-isopropylidine uridine, and 2,2'-O-cyclouridine were measured in the wavenumber region of 30000 -50000 cm-1. On the basis of the experimental results, the tautomerism of cytidine and isocytidine was discussed.

Circular Dichroism and Fluorescence Detected Circular Dichroism of Macromolecules
1979I will concentrate in this chapter on experimental and theoretical methods which are pertinent mainly to polymers and macromolecules. The optical properties of polymers are determined by the interactions between two or more similar chromophores. Therefore, to calculate the circular dichroism of a polymer we need the properties of the individual ...
