Synthetic metallomolecules as agents for the control of DNA structure [PDF]
This tutorial review summarises B-DNA structure and metallomolecule binding modes and illustrates some DNA structures induced by molecules containing metallic cations. The effects of aquated metal ions, cobalt amines, ruthenium octahedral metal complexes,

We use scanning nitrogen vacancy magnetometry to directly image the weak in‐plane magnetic moments in mixed phase BiFeO3 at the nanoscale and quantify the local magnetic moments to be 18.8±2.0 μB/nm2 in the rhombohedral‐like phase and 1.5±0.6 μB/nm2 in the well‐known non‐magnetic tetragonal‐like phase.

Exploring small energy scales with x-ray absorption and dichroism
Soft x-ray linear and circular dichroism (XLD, XMCD) experiments at the Ce M$_{4,5}$ edges are being used to determine the energy scales characterizing the Ce $4f$ degrees of freedom in the ultrathin ordered surface intermetallic CeAg$_x$/Ag(111).

Emitter-site selective photoelectron circular dichroism of trifluoromethyloxirane [PDF]
The angle-resolved inner-shell photoionization of R-trifluoromethyloxirane, C3H3F3O, is studied experimentally and theoretically. Thereby, we investigate the photoelectron circular dichroism (PECD) for nearly-symmetric O 1s and F 1s electronic orbitals ...

Chiral Phase Change Nanomaterials
This work demonstrates reversible, non‐volatile phase transitions in chiral Ge2${\rm Ge}_2$Sb2${\rm Sb}_2$Te5${\rm Te}_5$ (GST) nanohelices for high‐speed optical modulation of chirality and dynamic control of the state of polarization (SOP). The chiral nanostructures are fabricated using a highly directional, wafer‐scale physical vapor deposition ...

Conformational effects on the Circular Dichroism of Human Carbonic Anhydrase II: a multilevel computational study [PDF]
Circular Dichroism (CD) spectroscopy is a powerful method for investigating conformational changes in proteins and therefore has numerous applications in structural and molecular biology. Here a computational investigation of the CD spectrum of the Human

A dye‐based photoinitiator acting as a structure‐directing element, guides the formation of a cholesteric polymer network that behaves as a chirped photonic structure with dissipative chiral coupling. Photopolymerization freezes a depth‐dependent helical pitch, broadening the Bragg resonance spectrum.

Giant and flexible toroidal circular dichroism from planar chiral metasurface
Chirality, a fundamental concept describing an object cannot superpose with its mirror image, is crucial in optics and photonics and leads to various exotic phenomena, such as circular dichroism and optical activity.

Second harmonic Circular Dichroism in Achiral Nanostructures [PDF]
We theoretically show that under circularly polarized plane wave or vortex beam illumination, the second-harmonic circular dichroism is possible even if the nanostructure is achiral.

Metasurfaces Assisted Twisted α-MoO3 for Spinning Thermal Radiation
Spinning thermal radiation has demonstrated applications in engineering, such as radiation detection and biosensing. In this paper, we propose a new spin thermal radiation emitter composed of the twisted bilayer α-MoO3 metasurface; in our study, it ...
