Multiple circular–circular regression
Statistical Modelling, 2017In this article, we consider the circular–circular regression model using Möbius transformation. We first consider the model provided by Kato et al. (2008) for only one circular regressor and prove the identifiability of the model. After that, a methodology is discussed to reduce the prediction error of this model.

A very general beam solution of the paraxial wave equation in circular cylindrical coordinates is presented. We call such a field a circular beam (CiB). The complex amplitude of the CiB is described by either the Whittaker functions or the confluent hypergeometric functions and is characterized by three parameters that are complex in the most general ...

The problem of disentangling complex dynamic systems is addressed, especially with a view to identifying those variables that take part in the essential qualitative behaviour of systems. The author presents a series of reflections about the methods of formalisation together with the principles that govern the global operation of systems. In particular,

During 1994 and 1995, the structures of the serum amyloid P component, the bacterial chaperonin GroEL, the 20S proteasome, the bacterial light-harvesting complexes and the tryptophan operon RNA-binding attenuation protein have been determined. These structures all form circular assemblies in which the individual subunits are related by rotational ...

Abstract Circular dichroism (optical activity) can only be observed for chiral molecules or in the case of molecule-ligand binding only if at least one of the interacting species is chiral. This is usually true in biochemistry particularly if a biological macromolecule such as a protein/peptide is involved.
