On the structural changes in the Brewer-Dobson circulation after 2000 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In this paper we present evidence that the observed increase in tropical upwelling after the year 2000 may be attributed to a change in the Brewer-Dobson circulation pattern.

Neurogenic Control of Cerebral Circulation [PDF]

open access: yesStroke, 1971
A review of recent literature provides evidence that cerebral vessels are innervated with myelinated and nonmyelinated nerves. Among the latter, adrenergic nerves are readily demonstrated. Stimulation of cervical sympathetics produces a reduction in cerebral blood flow attributable to constriction of vessels in the neck and on the cerebral surface.

Effects of different processing methods on phenolic compounds in flaxseed meal

open access: yesFood Chemistry: X
This study examined effects of different processing methods on phenolic compounds in flaxseed meal. The optimal SE treatment was 1.0 MPa for 3 min, and the contents of total flavonoids and phenolic acid were 2.26 times and 1.63 times of the control group,

Neuronal control of mesenteric circulation.

open access: yesFolia Pharmacologica Japonica, 1999
The mesenteric circulation plays an important role in maintenance of systemic blood pressure and regulation of tissue blood flow. The tone of the mesenteric artery and resistance blood vessels are mainly regulated by sympathetic adrenergic nerves through the release of neurotransmitter noradrenaline and also controlled by nonadrenergic noncholinergic ...

The representation of ocean circulation and variability in thermodynamic coordinates

open access: yes, 2014
The ocean’s circulation is analyzed in Absolute Salinity SA and Conservative Temperature ? coordinates. It is separated into 1) an advective component related to geographical displacements in the direction normal to SA and ?

The location of diapycnal mixing and the meridional overturning circulation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
The large-scale consequences of diapycnal mixing location are explored using an idealized threedimensional model of buoyancy-forced flow in a single hemisphere. Diapycnal mixing is most effective in supporting a strong meridional overturning circulation (
