DUST IN THE CIRCUMGALACTIC MEDIUM OF LOW-REDSHIFT GALAXIES [PDF]
Using spectroscopically selected galaxies from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey we present a detection of reddening due to dust in the circumgalactic medium of galaxies. We detect the mean change in the colors of "standard crayons" correlated with the presence of foreground galaxies at z ~0.05 as a function of angular separation.

Analyzing Oxygen Ionization in the Circumgalactic Medium
Abstract Galaxies are surrounded by low-density, highly-ionized clouds of gas, called the Circumgalactic Medium (CGM), which provides insight into galaxy evolution. CGM observations are sensitive to ionization levels, which requires studying ionization types: photoionization (PI), more density-dependent and associated with cooler gas ...

We investigate the coevolution of the angular momentum of Milky Way–like galaxies, their circumgalactic gas, and their dark matter halos using zoom-in simulations from the Figuring Out Gas and Galaxies in Enzo suite.

DUST IN THE CIRCUMGALACTIC MEDIUM OF LOW-REDSHIFT GALAXIES
Using spectroscopically selected galaxies from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey we present a detection of reddening effects from the circumgalactic medium of galaxies which we attribute to an extended distribution of dust.

To understand how massive galaxies at high z coevolve with enormous reservoirs of halo gas, it is essential to study the coldest phase of the circumgalactic medium (CGM), which directly relates to stellar growth.

On the Origin of High-velocity Clouds in the Galaxy
The origin of our Galaxy’s high-velocity clouds (HVCs) remains a mystery after many decades of effort. In this paper, we use the TNG50 simulation of the IllustrisTNG project to identify cool, dense clouds that match observations of Galactic H i HVCs.

Metal Enrichment in the Circumgalactic Medium and Lyα Halos around Quasars at z ∼ 3
Deep observations have detected extended Lyα emission nebulae surrounding tens of quasars at redshift 2–6. However, the metallicity of such extended halos is still poorly understood. We perform a detailed analysis on a large sample of 80 quasars at z ∼ 3

Understanding magnetic fields in circumgalactic gas
Many galaxies in the Universe, including our own Milky Way, are sites of star formation. For them to continue producing stars over cosmic time, they require a steady supply of cold gas.

We present a statistical study of the neutral atomic hydrogen (H i ) gas extending into the circumgalactic medium perpendicular to the disk for seven edge-on galaxies with inclinations above 85° from the FEASTS program with a 3 σ (20 km s ^−1 ) column ...
