CEUS LI-RADS: a pictorial review [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) greatly improved the diagnostic accuracy of US in the detection and characterization of focal liver lesions (FLLs), and it is suggested and often included in many international guidelines as an important diagnostic ...

Diagnosis and management of acute kidney injury in patients with cirrhosis: revised consensus recommendations of the International Club of Ascites

open access: yesGut, 2015
Acute renal failure (ARF) is a common complication in patients with decompensated cirrhosis. The traditional diagnostic criteria of renal failure in these patients were proposed in 19961 and have been refined in subsequent years.2 According to these ...

GLS1‐RNA Polymerase II Axis Mediates Glutamine‐Dependent Hepatoprotective Effects on Alcoholic Liver Disease in High‐Protein Diets

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
GLS1 interacts with RNA polymerase II subunits, ROLR2H and POLR2E, resulting in significant suppression of RNA polymerase II activity. Importantly, the investigation demonstrates that high‐protein diets, particularly glutamine, exert protective effects against alcoholic fatty liver through GLS1‐RNA polymerase II axis.

Association of blood cadmium levels with all-cause and cause-specific mortality among adults with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease: a prospective cohort study

open access: yesFrontiers in Public Health
BackgroundCadmium (Cd) accumulates in the body over time, damaging organs such as the liver, kidneys, and brain. Some researchers have suggested that elevated blood Cd levels may contribute to the onset and progression of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease

Anticodon Engineered Transfer RNA (tRNASUAG) Inhibits Hepatitis B Virus Replication by Promoting the Degradation of Core Protein

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study employed tRNASUAG, an anticodon‐engineered tRNA (ACE‐tRNA), to introduce a phosphorylatable serine into the C‐terminal domain of HBc by reading through its stop codon, thereby potentially promoting the ubiquitin‐proteasome degradation of HBc, and subsequently inhibiting HBV replication. Through a tRNASUAG‐gHBV1‐tRNASUAG‐gHBV2‐tRNASUAG tandem

CircSMEK1 Suppresses HCC via the hnRNPK‐IGF2‐AKT Axis: A Diagnostic Biomarker and Therapeutic Target

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
CircSMEK1 is downregulated in MASH/HCC and predicts poor prognosis. It suppresses tumor progression by promoting hnRNPK ubiquitination and inhibiting the IGF2/PI3K/AKT axis, while its loss activates immunosuppressive cancer‐associated fibroblasts. Serum circSMEK1 serves as a non‐invasive diagnostic biomarker, and its restoration potently inhibits HCC ...

Survival after liver transplantation in the United Kingdom and Ireland compared with the United States

open access: yes, 2007
Background and Aim: Surgical mortality in the US is widely perceived to be superior to that in the UK. However, previous comparisons of surgical outcome in the two countries have often failed to take sufficient account of case-mix or ...

An expert consensus for the management of chronic hepatitis B in Asian Americans. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
BACKGROUND: Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is common with major clinical consequences. In Asian Americans, the HBsAg carrier rate ranges from 2% to 16% which approximates the rates from their countries of origin.

Increased Risk for Hepatocellular Carcinoma Persists Up to 10 Years After HCV Eradication in Patients with Baseline Cirrhosis or High FIB-4 Scores.

open access: yesGastroenterology, 2019
BACKGROUND & AIMS It is unclear if hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) risk declines over time after hepatitis C virus (HCV) eradication. We analyzed changes in HCC annual incidence over time following HCV eradication and identified dynamic markers of HCC ...
