Extinction Curves, Distances, and Clumpiness of Diffuse Interstellar Dust Clouds [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
We present CCD photometry in UBVRI of several thousand Galactic field stars in four large (>1 degree^2) regions centered on diffuse interstellar dust clouds, commonly referred to as ``cirrus'' clouds (with optical depth A_V less than unity).

Molten‐Salt‐Mediated Chemical Looping Oxidative Dehydrogenation of Ethane with In‐Situ Carbon Capture and Utilization

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 18, Issue 6, March 15, 2025.
A sustainable alternative to steam cracking, the molten‐salt‐mediated oxidative dehydrogenation (MM‐ODH) of ethane (C2H6) in Li2CO3‐Na2CO3‐K2CO3 (LNK) couples thermal cracking with melt‐mediated CO2 capture to realize commercially competitive C2H4 and CO yields. LNK composition strongly influences MM‐ODH process outcomes.

Tropical Cirrus in Global‐Storm Resolving Models: 3. Seasonal Changes and TTL Cirrus in the Tropical Western Pacific Using DYAMOND

open access: yesEarth and Space Science
Recent advances in computer modeling have spurred the production of several global storm‐resolving models (GSRMs), which explicitly represent atmospheric circulations from convective to global scales.

Selected topics on the interaction between cirrus clouds and embedded contrails [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Chemistry and Physics, 2012
Persistent contrails and natural cirrus clouds often coexist in the upper troposphere and contrails can be embedded within cirrus clouds. The present paper deals with some questions regarding the interaction of cirrus clouds and embedded contrails.

Modelling of cirrus clouds – Part 1b: Structuring cirrus clouds by dynamics [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Chemistry and Physics, 2009
Abstract. A recently developed and validated bulk microphysics scheme for modelling cirrus clouds (Spichtinger and Gierens, 2009), implemented into the anelastic non-hydrostatic model EULAG is used for investigation of the impact of dynamics on the evolution of an arctic cirrostratus.

Starburst and cirrus models for submillimeter galaxies

open access: yes, 2009
We present radiative transfer models for submillimeter galaxies with spectroscopic redshifts and mid-infrared spectroscopy from Spitzer/IRS and analyze available Spitzer/MIPS 24, 70 and 160mu data. We use two types of starburst models, a cirrus model and

CardiacDP: An R package for rapid automated cardiac data processing, integrating autocorrelation, a genetic algorithm, and a tracking index

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography: Methods, EarlyView.
Abstract Heart rate is a popular proxy of physiological responses, but the highly complex and variable cardiac data obtained from organisms such as marine invertebrates pose a major challenge to efficient and accurate data processing. To address this, we developed a novel, integrative algorithm for rapid and automated cardiac data processing.

Optical and geometrical properties of cirrus clouds in Amazonia derived from 1 year of ground-based lidar measurements [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Chemistry and Physics, 2017
Cirrus clouds cover a large fraction of tropical latitudes and play an important role in Earth's radiation budget. Their optical properties, altitude, vertical and horizontal coverage control their radiative forcing, and hence detailed cirrus ...

Temporal dynamics of co‐inoculation of Leptosphaeria maculans and Leptosphaeria biglobosa determine interspecific competition and disease development on oilseed rape

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
This study provides evidence that the timing of co‐inoculation of Leptosphaeria maculans and Leptosphaeria biglobosa determine the outcome of interspecific competition and disease development on their host oilseed rape. Abstract BACKGROUND Phoma stem canker is one of the most economically damaging diseases of oilseed rape, caused by co‐existing fungal ...

Optical Spectroscopy of Galactic Cirrus Clouds: Extended Red Emission in the Diffuse Interstellar Medium [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
We present initial results from the first optical spectroscopic survey of high latitude Galactic cirrus clouds. The observed shape of the cirrus spectrum does not agree with that of scattered ambient Galactic starlight.
