Combined effects of oleic, linoleic and linolenic acids on lactation performance and the milk fatty acid profile in lactating dairy cows

open access: yesAnimal, 2018
The potential combined effects of oleic, linoleic and linolenic acids supplementation on lactation performance and the milk fatty acid (FA) profile in dairy cows have not been well investigated. Our objective was to examine the effects of supplementation

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Salt-doped block copolymers: ion distribution, domain spacing and effective χ parameter [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We develop a self-consistent field theory for salt-doped diblock copolymers, such as polyethylene oxide (PEO)–polystyrene with added lithium salts.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Integrated genomic and proteomic profiling reveals insights into chemoradiation resistance in cervical cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A comprehensive genomic and proteomic analysis of cervical cancer revealed STK11 and STX3 as a potential biomarkers of chemoradiation resistance. Our study demonstrated EGFR as a therapeutic target, paving the way for precision strategies to overcome treatment failure and the DNA repair pathway as a critical mechanism of resistance.

Metabolism of long-chain polyunsaturated alcohols in myelinating brain

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1972
cis-9-[1-14C]Octadecenol, cis,cis-9,12-[1-14C]octadecadienol, and cis,cis,cis-9,12,15-[1-14C]octadecatrienol were administered intracerebrally to 18-day-old rats. Incorporation of radioactivity into the constituent alkyl, alk-1-enyl, and acyl moieties of

Regularity for a log-concave to log-concave mass transfer problem with near Euclidean cost [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
If the cost function is not too far from the Euclidean cost, then the optimal map transporting Gaussians restricted to a ball will be regular. \ Similarly, given any cost function which is smooth in a neighborhood of two points on a manifold, there are ...

Exact Combinatorics of Bern-Kosower-type Amplitudes for Two-Loop $\Phi^3$ Theory [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
Counting the contribution rate of a world-line formula to Feynman diagrams in $\phi^3$ theory, we explain the idea how to determine precise combinatorics of Bern-Kosower-like amplitudes derived from a bosonic string theory for $N$-point two-loop Feynman ...

Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).

Complementarities in Innovation Policy [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper develops a framework for testing discrete complementarities in innovation policy using European data on obstacles to innovation. We propose a discrete test of supermodularity in innovation policy leading to a number of inequality constraints ...
