ON THE CITATION OF LOCALITIES

open access: yesThe Canadian Entomologist, 1889
It is the custom nowadays to look down with great contempt on those old authorities, who considered “North America” or even “North America,” or even “America,” a sufficently accurage locality to give when describing a species; but, perhaps, we of the present age of not quite blameless of similiar and (with our means of obtaining information) less ...

Self-citation as an impact-reinforcing mechanism in the science system [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2008
In previous papers it was demonstrated that lower performance groups have a larger size-dependent cumulative advantage for receiving citations than top-performance groups. Furthermore, regardless of performance, larger groups have less not-cited publications. Particularly for the lower performance groups the fraction of not-cited publications decreases

Multifunctional Design of Triply Periodic Minimal Surface Structures for Temporary Pediatric Fixation Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A metallic implant's higher stiffness compared to the surrounding bone leads to stress shielding problems, causing bone density reduction and bone growth interference in pediatric patients. 3D‐printed triply periodic minimal surface structures present a promising engineering solution.

KupferDigital: Ontology‐Based Digital Representation for the Copper Life Cycle

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
It is demonstrated how data from different stages in the life cycle of a copper product can be stored in an ontology‐based data space. In order to showcase the methods and tools used in the project, four use cases are presented that show how data from different sources can be semantically described and queried from a shared data space.
