Multiphoton Multicomponent Reactions: Discovery of the 2‐Photon Ketene 4‐Component Reaction (2P‐K‐4CR)

open access: yesAdvanced Synthesis &Catalysis, EarlyView.
Multicomponent reactions triggered by multiple photons: complex heterocycles can be synthesized in a regio‐ and stereoselective manner via a double photoactivation using visible light from simple building blocks, exploiting the combination of ketene 3‐component reaction and Paternò–Büchi cycloaddition.

Synthesis of spirolactones from carbonyls via carboborylation of N‐sulfonylhydrazones with alkoxycarbonylalkylboronic acids

open access: yesAdvanced Synthesis &Catalysis, Accepted Article.
A straightforward synthesis of spirolactones from carbonyls via N‐tosylhydrazones is described. The process consist in the reaction between the N‐tosylhydrazone and ethoxycarbonylethylboronic acid or ethoxycarbonylpropylboronic acid, leading to spiro γ‐butyrolactones or δ‐valerolactones respectively. The transformation takes place by carboborylation of

Impact of the Substitution Pattern in N–heterocyclic Olefin‐Substituted Phosphines on Palladium Catalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Synthesis &Catalysis, EarlyView.
The impact of olefin backbone substitution in N‐heterocyclic olefin‐substituted phosphines is investigated. While these ligands are highly electron‐donating, their catalytic activity in Pd‐catalyzed CN cross‐coupling reactions decreases as the size of the backbone substituent increases.

Synergistic Visible Light Nanophotocatalysis and Asymmetric Organocatalysis for the Stereoselective α‐Alkylation of Aldehydes

open access: yesAdvanced Synthesis &Catalysis, EarlyView.
An unprecedent dual catalytic nanophotocatalytic and asymmetric organocatalytic system for the α‐functionalization of aldehydes is developed using carbon nanodots as photosensitizers. The optimized methodology yields the alkylated products with up to 94% yield and up to 98:2 e.r., evidencing the possible recycling of the nanocatalysts.
